It's really not controversial to say Nebraska has a delusional contingent of fans. Happens when the fanbase is national and has past success.

Nebraska fans were delusional when Bo Pelini took over for Callahan. I was too the first 3 years or so until I started looking at who he was winning and losing against. I squabbled with many a Husker fan on the Husker board in my assessment that Pelini was a very average coach and did not have what it took to get to elite, let alone level 2. Nebraska was level 3 or 4 at best. He won 9 and 10 games every year simply because he was at Nebraska and had better talent than the teams he was beating. When it came to playing teams with equal or better talent he'd lose. Sometimes losing big.

I am no more critical of Harbaugh than I've been on Husker coaches.

Nebraska biggest hurdle to getting back to where they once were — recruiting. With little to no home grown talent — trying to beat the teams bringing in the best of the best recruits year in and year out is going to be extremely tough to do.
I said the same thing to Michigan fans because we only get a handful of top 100-150 recruits from our state.
When you rely on recruiting nationally — you have to beat out all of elite schools and you aren’t going to win many of those battles.

Life is much easier on schools who can recruit elite talent who were brought up fans of the school.

Sometimes it is hard to tell when a post is in jest. But, all the same, several Nebraska posters seem to think the Huskers will win the Big 10 West this year (and possibly make a NY6 bowl game).
