The players that they traded to get Love were #1 picks. There is no way those picks will be #1 picks for the Clips. I'd be surprised if any of the picks are higher than 15.

Not sure about expiring contracts but I'd rather have Montrezl Harrell and Landry Shamet, they seem to have more potential

4-5 first rounders aren't much value when you consider where they'll land. Pretty pathetic for a top 8 player in the league.
One of those picks was anthony Bennett.....and the future pick(s) moved for Love were not #1. Neither of LAC is better than SGA. Forget about him? and wasn't Harrell a FA?

what should they have received per you? Be specific.

That's terrible for a guy who is suppose to be one of your best players.
do you just not watch basketball? Guys who are maybe a team's top 3-4 player (which Galinari was) can be a little inconsistent....not all games will be stud-like.

Would you care to take a look at Mitchell's playoff games for Utah? Don't....it will ruin your foolish narrative.

You must not be familiar with unions.

The NBA and NFL are completely separate entities. The NBA is a STAR driven league, whereas the NFL is not so much. Lets say the NBA decides to be a complete dick and tell the players 1) we're going to cut your revenue, 2) we're going to restrict your player movement ability and 3) we're going to non-guarantee your contracts you could see the NBA collapse under that.

If the top 25 players in the NBA all decided at one time that they wanted to leave and create their own league, they would find no shortage of investors, TV sponsorship and broadcasting deals, endorsements and new ownership groups aching at the opportunity to form a new league. The NFL because of it's construct wouldn't be able to accomplish that.

Disagree.
Where are they going to play?
Are they flying commercial?
So many more obsticles.
How many months, years is the planning going to take.

Bottom line, you need compromise, BUT, end of day, the 30 billionaire owners can live without NBA generated income.
A huge percentage of NBA players would need to look for UPS driver jobs if there was as extended holdout.

Well, if OKC is going to tank then who cares if you have a malcontent on the roster. I just have a feeling if they waited a guy like Pat Riley would have gotten them a better deal with a 3 way trade of some sort.
They should wait on the "feeling" of a guy who has never made an actual NBA trade and at best has made one in his fantasy league?

The Lakers got PG? I thought the Clips got him.

Pelinka's a damn magician.

Lakers gonna win the whole dang champeenship.

:D

Derp. To be fair, at the time of writing that, I did just come back all the way from Fresno, so I was a bit tired.

They're fine players, I never said they're going to be multi-time all stars. Not sure what point you're trying to drive here exactly.

Its just because they are Heat players.
Bam just turned 22, and looks to be a better player then original perception.

Winslow needs to stay healthy and take that next step this season.

LOL, the players union would NEVER agree to this. The Franchise Tag only works in the NFL because they have no guaranteed contracts. At least with the franchise tag, you're going to be getting paid a top 5 positional value for that one singular year. For the NBA there's no way Lebron, or KD or Steph or Giannis is signing a franchise tag.
huh? These guys would get far more guaranteed if there was no franchise tag placed on them. would players want it? Of course not. League would have to give them something.

Harrell was not a FA.

He is a very good player and he is on a cheap contract. But not a star nor a high upside young player.

He is a lot more valuable to the Clippers who are trying to win today than he is to a team like the Thunder.

Because Paul George makes you a respectable team. If you're going to go down the path of tanking, you need to bottom out. The Heat weren't going to be able to offer up the package that the Clippers did.
Nonsense.....he had a feeling.

There are other professional leagues overseas that would pay soccer money for a legit NBA superstar.

There are other very lucrative options for top NBA players. Every player on an NBA roster is good enough to get a pretty good contract overseas.

And you better believe that if the NBA owners were dumb enough to go nuclear, leagues around the world would try to step up and take their place.

I'd also add that NBA players, even rank and file, are better equipped to handle a prolonged strike (as long as they've been a little bit smart with their money) than rank and file NFL players because they make more.

Imo, it would also be easier for a new professional basketball league to replace the NBA because the start up costs would be significantly less and they'd be able to bring NBA stars into the league immediately.

My response was in regard to players starting their OWN league.

Overseas would be an option of course, but not really something they want to do.

Some players are equipped enough to never have to worry about it.
A huge % aren’t because of either salary and /or lifestyle expenses they need to continue to pay for.

Of course they would not want to do that.

But, overseas leagues give NBA players the leverage to stand their ground if the owners were unreasonable. Which is why I can’t see the owners being stupid enough to go that far.

Im pretty sure that legally, any player under NBA contract couldn't sign a new one overseas, for starters.
