Screw him if he holds out. Stop getting into trouble, play out your deal and then come talk. Until then play or go the fuck home. The Cowboys can win the East without Zeke. At some point he needs to come back or he sits out forever. Don't let players hold you hostage.

They can with the East without him?

Seriously now, I think we all knew the Cowboys would eventually be faced with a tough decision: which franchise RB do you keep, Dak or Zeke?

Elliott....

Gotta support the RBs getting what they can.

Zeke is the best one. Hope he sets the bar high.

So many low character players in skill positions.

The Patriots have had the 4th highest running back payroll in the league the last couple years and have done well, contrary to popular opinion spending money on running backs is money well spent. If they give Elliott the extension now they still get his next 2 seasons of his rookie deal, but they avoid years of drama with franchise tags, and they get his 21 and 22 seasons at the current RB price vs whatever it'll be when 2021/22 gets here.

that’s actually brilliant. Lock him up give him some security, keep market value down. And run him into the ground.

One interesting thing to consider: does the guy have trade value? I think not a whole lot, given his salary demands and off the field issues. Plus most teams that would take a flyer on a low-character guy, like Oakland and Cincy, already have RBs.

And that includes how many backs?

I just really think Dak should hold out for one simple reason. He’s the franchise QB of the most valuable franchise in all of sports. That’s one of sports dream positions. He has made very little money as a 4th round pick and he’s literally gambling a 100 million guaranteed dollars. Why would any sane player do that especially seeing so many QBs getting severely hurt.

The longer Dak waits the better for Dak. Pre Wilson and Wentz deals rumors were Daks ceiling being 30M, now the number is 34M.
Next year Rivers is due for a contract and the Chiefs might try to get Mahomes locked up, these will again raise the price.

If Dak holds out and signs a week later it changes his 2019 salary ZERO. The only benefit to Dak for signing now is for injury protection. He'd be better off taking out insurance on his health.

It was in Wentz's best interest to sign right away because of his injury history. If he waited and got hurt he'd almost be forced to take a lowball offer or at least a heavily injury protected contract.

Same as most teams 4 or 5 and maybe a fullback

Yeah, "The Patriots boast one of the deepest and most versatile backfields in the NFL."

That's not pouring money into one back.

But go ahead, sign him Dallas.

That is very true but his leverage is the season is ruined without him and he and his agent could exploit that. He’s criminally underpaid and deserves his guaranteed money before catastrophic injury.

I fully disagree.

I've said this a few times. The Dallas run game was fine during Zekes suspension minus the 2 games T. Smith missed. If Dallas loses a OLmen or two I'll be worried.

Zeke is arguably the best running back in the league and i think the Cowboys added some nice depth behind him. No Brady or Bilichick in Dallas though, but Zeke makes them a contender at least.

Look, no knock on Zeke. I'd just rather have a committee of good backs, and split the money between them, than one really good one.

I'll say this. Yes Zeke makes Dallas better, but him sitting out isn't the difference between a SB contender and bottom half of the league.

I'd like to have Zeke in Dallas for another 5 seasons, but not at a cap straining salary.

Don’t disagree with anything you’re saying but he is still risking a lot via catastrophic injury. These Lloyd’s of London coverages are evidently massively expensive and very hard to collect on.
