BSIMO, you (along with a great many people in this thread) are merely reflecting a "good sportsmanship" type attitude.
That's laudable, and all that. But listen:
We're not shaking hands with the other team after the game here. This thread is just about talking straight... being real.
A great number of y'all are also saying lines like, "Yeah, GS would have won the series if they were healthy but..."
I read that as a concession that my overall point is true: Injuries to two HOF, in-their-prime stars had a huge effect on this series and ended up being the deciding factor. Asterisk!
The Raptors won. Period. No excuses.
A championship does not equate to best team. It never has. It never will. It simply is a consistent obstacle course that all teams must complete, and the team that finished the course first takes the title. And that is a beautiful thing.
If a team is built around a bunch of kids who don’t know how to handle the big lights, they will likely fall.
If a team is built around a bunch of old men who will hit the wall too early, they will likely fall.
If a team is built around players who simply don’t have the talent, they will likely fall.
If a team randomly has injuries that are unexplainable, they will likely fall.
If a team played an entire seasons worth of games more than every other team in a 5-year period, they will likely fall.
Winning a championship is HARD. A lot of shit can (and will) happen. That is why no team in major sports has made it to 5 consecutive championships since the early 80s, and not in the NBA since the 60s.
But if you want to paint that as “merely reflecting a ‘good sportsmanship’ type attitude.”, well, I got nothing for you. You looking to be offended where no offense is there to be found.
