Good point. There depth right now is Kelce, Seaumolo, Peters, Johnson and Brooks as the starters and Mailata, Vaitai & Pryor as the backups. The only other rostered player is Kaleb Johnson whose resume reads like a camp body.

Its interesting that both Warmack and Wisniewski and still out there as Free Agents. I have a tough time believing that one or both of them or some other experienced guard wouldn't be here if Roseman was worried about who was starting the first six games at RG.

So just reading the tea leaves, Roseman either believes that (a) Brooks will be just find by the start of the season, and/or (b) that Pryor or Mailata are ready to step in there if needed. If would be good news if the Eagles have that kind of confidence in there young players.

Roseman isn't the sort to put all his hope into a draft pick. He likes to set things up in Free Agency where the draft picks don't need to take on a full time role immediately. I think the Eagles are thinking that their top 7 Offensive Lineman that will be active on game day are already on the Eagles roster....which would mean they like what they have in Mailata and Pryor.

The more interesting perspective is what does 2020 look like? Peters and Kelce could both be gone and now you are looking at potentially starting Pryor (at Guard) and Semaulo (at Center) and Mailata (at Tackle). And even if that is successful, you would need two more offensive lineman. For that reason, I think it is definitely possible and really likely that the Eagles draft an Offensive Lineman. You always need to think two years out. The good news is if they are happy with Pryor and Mailata (which letting Wiz and Warmack walk seems to indicate), they have the luxury of giving the new guy(s) a year on the inactive roster (and possibly waiting til the 4th round to draft them) in prep for the possible retirements in 2020.

No one is coming back from an Achilles injury inside a year. It's never happened in any sport.
Wisnewski was cut and wormack wasn't resigned. If they wanted either one they'd still be here. They're not coming back. There is no in FA who is starter material at this point.
The likelihood of either pryor or mailata going from not even dressing for a game last year to starter is virtually nil.
You're left with trading for someone or a draft pick. And the draft is easily the best option at this point.

Yeah so that is the thing...Both these linebackers seem to be just "a guy". It would be nice to set another playmaker on the field like Hicks was when healthy. If a Hicks quality of player is available in the 2nd, you jump on him rather than a Safety that likely would be sitting for a year. The right linebacker helps you in 2019, the right Safety would have a tough time getting on the field in 2019.
The 3rd safety is going to play more than the 3rd linebacker.

Also, this linebacker class is dog shit.

Don't sleep on LJ Fort. He's a good (not great) LB'er and a good ST player! We just don't another stud LBer other than Bradham. He is also getting up in years. We need to draft a LBer by the 4th round.
Blanked on Fort. He gives us enough depth at the position even if Gerry hasn't developed.

Its more accurate to say the 5th Defensive Back will play more than the 3rd linebacker. The Eagles go 8 players deep at DB in players that are either experienced like McLeod and Jenkins or young with good potential in Darby, Mills, Maddox, Jones, Douglas & LeBlanc. Any DB coming in will have to beat out a pretty deep roster to get playing time. Those young guys include guys drafted in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th round.

At LB, Bradham is the only real given. A draftee only has to beat out LJ Fort, Gerry and Hill all of to be on the field 80-90 percent of the time. Much easier path for a LB to contribute than a DB.

I wouldn't sleep on the young guys. OL more than any other position requires training in the system, next to players your playing with. These young guys have the physical tools and now have that year of training under their belts. I think Wiz and Warmack being let go is primarily because they like the young guys and figure them to be active roster guys this year. No sense in paying Wiz to be inactive if that is the way they see it.

Obviously left out the word "have" another stud LBer other than Bradham. We need to get one draft, trade, or free agent.

In Schwartz's scheme the 3rd Safety/4th Corner is essentially the 3rd Linebacker... we can get by with Bradham and Fort manning the two base positions for now. But it doesn't hurt to also think at some point we need a long-term option for those base positions too...

CBS threw out a mock draft a couple of weeks ago where they had us trading up to take Devin White. A very unlikely scenario, but I wouldn't be upset at all if we found a way to come out of this draft with Devin White... one of the best players in the entire draft, regardless of position, he is a force.

As much as I like D White ... he's not getting out of the top 10. For us to get even as high as 10 we'd have to give up a ton. I think he goes to Tampa at 5.

I'll be posting my Offensive Skill Position player rankings this weekend. I would not waste my time taking RB too early in this draft ... there is quite a few Backs in the Rd 4 to 6 range that I really like. Here's one below who's skill set would really compliment Howard's ... he can explode through creases. Projected round range is 3 to 5.

His hesitation move is not only very effective but it also gives him yardage that’s not there. A good patient running back.

Also worked out of the RPO ... same thing we run.

Looks like a solid choice in the 4th round but here is another RB that is completely under the radar....Ty Johnson of Maryland. A solidly built player with tremendous speed for his size and great hands. The Eagles can snap him up with their 6th round pick and they potentially have the heir apparent to Sproles.

He should be a 2nd round pick. As far as I can tell, it will be a "reach" if we take him in the 1st.

Draft Network has him on their big board at #12 overall. He had a really good season last year and I don’t see the Eagles passing him up.

Yeah I really hope he doesn't go first, got him late 2nd or 3rd round...

When you hear things like dynamic mobility and ability of a true game changer, it makes you take a better look. This guy is not escaping the first round and we need a player like him badly.

All right I don't want to screw up Rey or Duke's mock threads so I'll post this in here.
One of the annual Hoop mocks listed below :

2.53 : Kaleb McGary - OT - Washington
2.57 : Deionte Thompson - S - Alabama
3.89 : Bobby Evans - OG - Oklahoma
4.109 : Joe Giles-Harris - LB - Duke - Way to high for this one, but I love this kid. He has a great nose for the ball.
4.117 : Darrell Henderson - RB - Memphis
4.127 : Greg Gaines - DT - Washington
4.129 : Kris Boyd - CB - Texas
4.138 : David Sills - WR - West Virginia
5.163 : Daniel Wise - DT - Kansas - Boom or bust, with more of the boom effect. I think with the vets he can flourish here
6.197 : Gary Johnson - LB - Texas- Another great nose for the ball. Needs development

TRADES: 1.25 to Atlanta for 2.45 & 4.117
2.45 to Jacksonville for 3.69 & 4.109
3.69 to Indianapolis for 3.89 & 4.129

Whew! That's a lot of trades. Are they your suggestions, or what you saw on mocks? i like McGary a bit. Reminds me of Lane Johnson. Love Henderson, may not make it to the 4th round.

What I selected in the mock draft. Trades came down to having to move back after my targets were gone

If I add them up, if I read them correctly, we wind up making 12 picks? That would be great!
