No way any sensible team, so maybe Raiders, would give up a 1st for Clark when this class is loaded with guys who have just as much potential. The Seahawks got massively lucky but unlucky at the same time as Clark wants big money but Jaran Reed’s season puts him in line for a huge contract too and it seems like cap hell if they pay 4 guys top dollar when one is the highest paid QB.

They need to keep Clark and pray some of the younger guys develop or they hit in the draft. No way can they go into the season with their only pass rusher is a tackle.

no ones bitting , if u wanna trade him for picks, be realistic

From their perspective, why?

He was reportedly happy with signing an extension before quickly backtracking and earning a franchise tag. Clark wants to be paid as a top tier end rusher, yet the market says he's more of a top-10 guy.

Why not see if other teams think he's as valuable as he thinks he is?

Maybe he should be more realistic.

What did Seattle offer him beside the tag?

Bad year to want a 1st for Clark since it's considered a good year for pass rushers in the draft.

I'd say Seattle should look for a mid to high 2nd rounder for him because I think there would be a market in that range.

Obviously Seattle doesn't want to trade him since he's their best pass rusher but you also don't want to make the same mistake like with Earl Thomas where you could've had Dallas' 2nd round pick for him right now but instead you'll have a 2020 3rd round comp for him.

I've always been of the mindset of if you're not going to sign a guy long term than trade him away as long as you're getting something higher than you would get as a compensatory pick. The only exception is if you're one of those teams that is a legit Super Bowl contender than you keep every bit of talent you can to maximize those chances.

Given that there are concerns about Clark's character in addition to his production, and given that this is a loaded draft for defensive linemen, I think Seattle's chances of getting a high pick are nil.

But sometimes these rumors are a way to re-set expectations with a player--to show them, look, no one else thinks you are worth that much either, so get real.

Nothing against wanting a 1st. I don't think they get it, not for a one trick pony that wants to be paid like Mack.

I think a lot of these stories are planted by the teams themselves.

You are probably right. I mean when the OBJ rumors were out, the rumors were two 1st's. I could see someone offering a 3rd for Clark.

I doubt they want to trade him either. However with the crazy RW deal and KJ Wright due this year and Bobby Wags next Seattle needs to be very creative with how Clark plays out?

One good and bad thing is Seattle only has like 4 picks this year IIRC? Good because it won't hurt them salary wise but bad if they don't find a starter or two?

Next year Seattle gets real healthy cap wise IIRC?

Well they still have $54M next year available and believe it or not that STILL includes Kam Chancellor at $14M... so if they cut him, they'd prob. be around $65M post Wilson, realistically prob. $75M with projected cap increase... that's plenty to re-sign Wagner (prob. $15M per), Reed (depends on this year), and Clark ($18-20M) and still leave plenty left over to get in FAgency/Draft.

Seattle's big predicament though is they have a league low 4 picks this draft. I expect them to trade back into mid-late 2nd round before they take anyone. That said, with drafting probably their earliest pick in the mid-late 2nd round, they wont have a 1st rounder salary cap to deal with either.

Seattle's had pretty good success with finding EDGE rushers over the years. Carroll got the most out of Chris Clemons, then Avril, then Clark... so who knows what their thought process is. I'd argue if Reed duplicates his 2018-19 season and improves, he's more important than Clark. Clark's productivity went way up once Reed came on this year.

Why wouldn't you ask for 1st round pick when a guy is in the top 10 of tackling?
You set the market then you let the market come back to you and now you have leverage for getting a deal done to keep him in Seattle...

Oh I agree they get healthy next season.

Trading back is still only going to net them an extra pick maybe a later additional pick.

With the expected cap space next year a 1st round rookie deal shouldn't be an issue.

They have hit on some good players. That happened when they had 8 or so picks. They've also missed on many other positions. Positions that they need more so than DE/DL.

It's a curse. As great as a coach that BB is, he hadn't been able to pick WRs worth a shit.

Good ask for the moon and see if anyone bites

Question...I am just curious what a Seattle fan has an avatar of Duke Tobin for? Is he your Uncle, long lost cousin? Just not seeing what the appeal for a Seattle fan is. Explanation to satisfy my curiosity? Thank you.

So in the full picture there are 2 other guys along with him who are being interviewed for the Bengals as new hires and they look happy and this dude looks like he made the biggest mistake of his life and he knows it. And that's hilarious to me.

Could you imagine how much bigger of laughing stock the Jets would be if the Jets gave up the 3rd overall pick for Clark?

I think if they trade back to an early 2nd they can net another 3rd and then one more trade back into mid-later 2nd can net them another 4th and maybe a 6th or something. Their 1st round is 21st... so it's not super late.

But yah... generally minimal draft picks is not good. And when they have hit on players in recent years (Mark Glowinski, top 20 overall guard (remember x2 per team) for the Colts now) they let them go /facepalm

Seattle can have the Chiefs' 2nd round pick and a day 3 pick of their choice if they want to play ball :)

I'd like him on the Chiefs but the cost is silly. The Chiefs let go of 2 pass rushers for almost nothing and now we're talking about maybe needing a 1st and a 2nd to get one back on the team? Thats just daft.

The Tyreek Hill situation is still a massive obstacle for trading away massive amounts of draft capital. The Chiefs would have to be 100% sure of that situation before punting on a draft loaded with WR talent imo.

All reasons to refuse giving up a 1.
