I love any rock music from 1955 - 1990. Many folks my age listen to the stuff that passes for music today.
1990, the last year U2 was still worth a damn.

I think that most people like the music that was popular when they were growing up because it's so intertwined with all of those memories. I just happened to grow up during the period of time that's generally considered the golden age of rock music... and I agree of course. If I grew up in the 80s I might think that Bon Jovi or Def Leppard were great rock bands. Many do.
Paganini Caprice 24This guy gets it.

Don't make a mess this time!
Bon Jovi certainly isn't but I did enjoy Def Leppard.

List 3 current rock songs that you love to hear. I'll reply after listening...
High 'n' Dry was promising but they sold out after that. Huge disappointment of a band after a solid start with their first 2 albums.
Revisiting Def Leppard's Pivotal 'High 'n' Dry' LPOnly album of theirs' I ever had.
Jovi im on the fence on but way better than Def Leppard. Def Leppard. is extremly over-rated jmo so doesnt mean shit. Musical taste is diffeteny for everyone. R&r hof is laughable. DL reminds me of Bisten a couple of hits and thats it. I f-ing hate Boston. I was born in 78 btw.I grew up in the 80’s. Def Leppard and Bon Jovi aren’t great rock bands.

I just disagree with the wording. As long as someone is doing it, and someone else is listening, it’s not dead. There’s just a void in the mainstream that should eventually be filled, in theory. For me personally, when I call a genre dead, I mean in the mainstream form.
Austin, Texas is currently producing some of the best music ever made, but you have to go out of your way to hear it. I do, but most don't.
Great post. It’s kind of what’s happening now, except the pop music was way better. That’s why I’m holding onto some local scene is bound to break through and fix everything like grunge did with the underground punk/post punk/alternative that was already happening for years. You have good taste. By the mid 70s my tastes had gravitated to punk, alternative... whatever you want to call it, but rock music that didn't get airplay.. NY Dolls, Television, The Clash, Elvis Costello, Roxy Music, Graham Parker, Patti Smith. I had no love for what passed for popular rock music by the time the 80s rolled around. I don't even like Van Halen. The 90s were a different story. I like a lot of rock music from the 90s.
