Meh. If we sign another superstar this summer, it's a non-issue. James would become option #2 and he'd be a great #2 option.

But you would have to get Lebron's blessing.

Otherwise it's another season of Lebron and his comments that undermine all team chemistry.

I hope Pelinka is out. He just rubs me the wrong way.
According to LakersNation, Pelinka will be staying and will have an expanded role and there may be a problem with that because according to ESPN commentators - Only the people in the Lakers front office like the dude and he is not well liked in the NBA. In fact it was stated that Magic Johnson did not exactly give Pelinka a high endorsement - which I noticed and thought that and thought that was surprising considering that I thought Magic hand picked the dude

Probably not, but he should be her first call, imo. At the least, I'd bet he could give her a list of guys who would be good hires as President and also as GM if she decides to let Pelinka go (which I doubt she will).

That would be my first choice by the way, but I doubt that is even a possibilty

magic just didn't have the heart and determination to turn that dumpster fire of a team around.

james will be leaving as well, I would suspect. The GOAT doesn't need to spend any more time trying to teach basic fundamentals to a bunch of kids.

Rumor is that ESPN was working on a story that claims Magic behaved inappropriately with Lakers employees. Exactly what that means, I don't know, and he told the LA Times that it isn't the reasons he quit. But you have to wonder.
He told Luke to shut the fuck up.

Got sassy with a couple other folks.

May not be nice. But, it's not criminal.

Something happened, might of been that, or something else, but my guess is that it'll come out eventually
Wow.....

So it was Pelinka?

Plaschke and Bucher said Magic wanted to fire Luke AND PELINKA.

Mama Buss said yes to Luke, no to Rob....lol

Now the Kings want Luke?

I heard that Pelinka was really close to one of Jeanie Buss' good friends that has a job within the organization. Linda Rambis is a Lakers executive and her and Pelinka are really close.

I think Pelinka is kind of a scumbag and not that smart- but apparently he has a close relationship with Jeanie and Linda Rambis so he is going to get an expanded position. Good luck with that

id fire them all and hire David Griffin and Ty Lue.

apparently Pelinka is really close to Jeanie and Jeanie's best friend, Linda Rambis, who is a Lakers exec. Pelinka is not going anywhere- and in fact will get even more power apparently.

True but they didn't miss the playoffs 6 years in row before KG & Ray got to Boston for the '07-'08 season. Pierce made it to the playoffs 4 of his 1st 9 years before that big trade. Not great. But not lousy.

No, the Celtics missed the playoffs for 6 years straight from 95/96 through 00/01 (7 out of 8 overall if you go back to 93/94).

If a new president comes in and says Pelinka is out, he's out.

i highly doubt it---- though i dont think any President with any shred of self respect would go into the job without that power- which may limit the search

Pelinka has attached himself to the Lakers like a barnacle. He has squirmed and oozed his way in and has ingratiated himself into Jeanie and Rambis apparently and his influence is growing.

this is a live look into Staples and Pelinka (Wormtongue) whispering into the ear of Jeanie Buss (Theoden)....and what would happen if they hired Jerry West (aka Gandalf), David Griffin (Aragorn), and Ty Lue (Legolas)

@msgkings322 does that make you happy? the LOTR reference?

honestly one of my favorite, if not my favorite part, of the LOTR books is when, after the War, the four Hobbits return to the Shire and find it taken over by Saruman. Pippen and Merry have been hanging with the Ents, have grown a bunch, and are wearing the armor/uniform of Gondor and Rohan and are 2 badass looking hobbits, and those 4, by themselves raise all the rest of the Hobbits to over throw Saruman and his gang of "ruffians".

Well He couldn't be worse then Phil Jackson, but I think it depends on what decisions were made by Pelinka. Magic Johnson in my opinion hasn't exactly been honest to anyone here. If Pelinka was the one who made decisions to cut Randle and take Lonzo Ball instead of Tatum, then he is not very good and your statements shows how much he is hated in the NBA. The best fit isn't who you like, but what is the best for the company. If I had employees working for me, I would never hire my sister - when she is dealing with people, she is a real bitch and would cost me $$$$

I would love to see a fresh new look, but It's quite possible that the general manager will have a more traditional role then in the past. For the last decade, Mitch Kupchak was a puppet for Jim Buss and really didn't make serious decisions.

I was just browsing a betting website and they have a futures bet for who the next President of Basketball Operations for the Lakers will be:

David Griffin - +175
Kobe Bryant - +200
Jerry West - +350
Pat Riley - +900
Masai Ujiri - +1000
Phil Jackson - +1000
Lavar Ball - +100000

LOOL. They just trying to take people's free money with that Lavar Ball bet. Shit that could be +100000000 and that still wouldn't be a value bet.
