Well yeah look at his trainwreck. If they can get a nice GM it could be a good step but right now it doesn't look like they are competing for anything

The West is stacked.
Go team by team.
There are several on the improve.
I'm factoring in everything.
I just don't see it in the next 3 years of this contract.

I see that one name that's being mentioned for the Lakers targets is Bob Myers. The Warriors saw this coming a mile away, when they promoted him to President of Basketball operations in 2016. They saw that Myers would be a hot commodity to a lot of teams and promoted him earlier than most would expect. He'd only been the GM of the team officially for 4 years.

The Lakers could offer him a ridiculous amount of money to go to them, but in terms of the organizational stability, I don't think he would jump ship. He has the ear of the owner, great relationship with the coach and the autonomy to do what he wants as the president of basketball operations. And on top of that he gets to work where he grew up and work for an organization he was a fan of as a kid. Never say never, but IMO, I don't think the Lakers have much of a shot at him.

Because he didn't even have the balls to tell the owner of the franchise that he was quitting. And from public perception, it doesn't look like he had the balls to fire Walton and wanted someone else to do it.

Rumor is that ESPN was working on a story that claims Magic behaved inappropriately with Lakers employees. Exactly what that means, I don't know, and he told the LA Times that it isn't the reasons he quit. But you have to wonder.

All I know is that I do not want Phil Jackson to rejoin the Lakers in that role. The man wanted to trade Kobe Bryant in his prime for Jason Kidd and the Lakers front office said Hell No!!!!!! - That there alone without the New York Knicks shows he is not the right man for the job.
