A 3rd and a 5th isn't a 1st like Steelers fans were saying they'd get.

The PIT FO did get fleeced, but help me with the better alternatives.

I'm not seeing much better...they had #9 overall on the table...AB said he wouldn't play there so BUF wisely backed off and other teams saw that and closed up shop as well. I don't see bringing him back as a better alternative.
There is no way to know what the better alternatives are, but you can't sit there and tell me that they couldn't have gotten a better deal than this. I guarantee you that 90% of the league is in awe at how little it took to get AB.

Art II & Colbert got played like a fiddle, and they were just as harmful to the trade compensation as AB was. But AB got exactly what he wanted, out of PIT and a huge pay-day, while the Steelers FO has been bending over and grabbing their ankles since December.

Two alphas in the lockeroom? Believe me Antonio would defer to Rodgers and learn under his guidance. It’s not a bad move if Brown wants numbers though. Carr will find him. There are certainly worse possibilities from his perspective.

Crabtree and Cooper had their moments with Carr.....AB is way better than both.

I hear ya Face, but letting him rot vs a 3rd and 5th. What does letting him rot gain PIT? IMO another season of more of the same BS drama.

Precedent...It's so rare that star players want out that I would look for the root cause here and fix that.
Gains them respect. They could have still pursued trading the asshole all summer. That $2.5m roster bonus is small pennies in comparison to the gigantic QB-esque dead hit they were already on the hook for regardless of whether the deal got done before Wednesday.

AB makes it out of this like the egotistical bandit that he absolutely is, while the Steelers brass are left looking incredibly inept & weak.

I didn't like how AB handled the situation but at the end of day, he came out as a winner

Gotta love the people going to the opposite camp in the matter of 48 hours or so.
Well when the GM straight up hard-balled the situation by saying they weren't going to just let him walk without significant compensation......... And all they get is a 3rd & a 5th?

They traded Martavis Bryant to them last year for a 3rd Rd pick. Let that sink in.

3rd and a 5th? Why not 1st and a 5th, even a 2nd and a 5th. Well we'll see how this goes. I guess the Steelers really wanted to get rid of Antonio Brown.

Everyone is ripping on the Steelers, with some good reason, but I don't think this was ever going to end well for them. The only question was, do you just let a guy rot on your bench or try to get something in return? Clearly they didn't find a lot of takers for an aging diva receiver wanting an enormous contract.

My only criticism of Pittsburgh is that they have not gone far enough. They should have fired their coach too.

Imagine if the Raiders kept Cooper and Mack, now they could of been a force in the West

Aging? He's still just 30 (receivers can play well until 33-34) and not declining.....he played great last season. Actually led the League in TD's...

Yes...maybe he plays....More drama for sure.

Without a doubt — drama. But is Pitt better with no AB and no drama?

With a huge cap hit and Brown under contract. No WR at age 30 is sitting out a year. If he were 25, like Bell, then I agree with dealing him.

Brown loves the camera too much and money. He wouldn’t have pulled a Bell and sat out. The trade saved Pitt, what, $1 million in cap space?

They couldn't have. There's something called the salary cap.

The only way they were able to trade for AB was because they unloaded those 2 who were due huge contracts.

Brown...yes, afraid is strong imo. What was to gain for bringing him back? Do you really think he was going to get 160 targets from Ben? Do you think having a disgruntled star in the locker room would benefit PIT? Help me understand that one.

Opposed to settling for less than premium draft picks in addition to eating 21 million, I'd take my chances, if for no other reason than to stick it to the piece of shit and show the team who's boss.

Obviously, the Steelers felt their team culture was not strong enough to handle Brown, which is reflective of a broader problem.

It's a mess.

That is aging. When you only have 3-4 years left, that is aging. He can still put up quality stats, but it doesn’t make him any younger.

Age is the one thing that catches up to everyone, especially at the skill positions
