Look what happened to our O after Seattle figured out how to snuff it out.

Teams get a tinplate and then things change. Yes, I get he will still be good.

I don't think anybody figured out our offense. The issue was that Peyton got hurt in that St. Louis game in 2014 and was never the same. Before that game he was on pace to get similar numbers to what he did in 2013. Through 9 games that year he had 29 TD passes to 7 INT's. If he had kept up that pace he would have finished the year with around 52 TD's to only 12 INT's. So again I don't think that was our offense being figured out. After that injury he finished the year only throwing 10 TD's to 8 INT's.

you are going to see NFL D's snuff him out this year to more manageable numbers and beat them more often.

I don't think he'll be able to put up crazy numbers like he did last year, because teams tend not to be able to do that. But he's for real. For some of the stuff he does it's not a matter of "snuffing him out." If an impact guy is open and in perfect position to make a play, and the QB has the vision/awareness/physical skill to get it to that playmaker on time and on target, then that play is going to be made. You aren't giving Mahomes enough credit. He's not tricking people or succeeding with gimmicks. He's that good.

Patrick Mahomes is going to continue to be great and will arguably get better as his experience lengthens. I don't see regression like some do. I'm more concerned with how the Broncos are going to get our own offense kick started. A couple of pieces added to our defense will probably get us back in the hunt but we need to be able to score points. As critical as an off season as we've seen is upon us.

By regression I guess let me explain. I don't expect the Chiefs' defense to be as bad this year meaning there could be a few more games where the game is over at half time and they don't have to keep lighting it up through the air. To put up the huge numbers of 50 or more TD's in a season it usually means a team had to keep scoring. Think about Manning in 2013 and us winning a game where the other team scored 49 points. A better defense would have helped Manning get a chance to shut things down at least heading into the 4th quarter.

I don't think he will have the numbers he had last year but I doubt he has quite the fall off that Cam had. Part of it for Cam was the talent around him was not up to par after that 2015 season and I would say some injuries also zapped a little of what he brought to the table.

For the Chiefs it is looking like they will keep all of their weapons from last year. The weapons alone are some of the best in the NFL beyond just Mahomes' ability to make things happen. Now yes I don't think he will have quite as many of the "how did he do that?" type plays but there is still plenty of the other plays from the pocket that he showed he should stay in that top-10 QB discussion for quite a while.

The Chiefs offense may not be as good on paper next year. I think a lot of that is if teams slow down their offense, their defense will be exposed unless they are able to rebuild that unit quickly. I saw a head line that the Chiefs might trade Houston and Ford in the off-season which will hurt their pass rush. I am not ready to declare them a perennial contender, especially with where their D is now. By week 8 I might have a different opinion.

I guess my thought was they can't get worse on defense can they? If Houston, Ford, and Berry are gone then it definitely could get interesting. I should wait until after FA and the draft to make that decision on their defense but my guess is they invest some decent money and draft capital on that side of the ball. The nice thing is at least the CB group in both the draft and FA is pretty darn bad. The bad thing is the Broncos need help in that same area.

If we can’t get a big-name linebacker in free agency I think we should forget Lock and go Devon White at 10.
He is going to Tampa at 5

If the Raiders fail to land Kyler Murray, they may take Drew Lock at 4.
NFL Perception vs Media Perception are very far apart on the Missouri Prospect, similar to Josh Allen last season. Drew Lock is really liked by many in league. Upside arm, athletic, and a very likeable kid. Interviews apparently went well with everyone he met with at the Combine.

2019 NFL Draft: Broncos draft interest tracker

I love these type spreadsheets - lets you know who the Broncos are talking to for the college draft. A very high number of these guys will cycle through dove valley.

Although I will say the Broncos do seem to draft a lot of guys they don't bring in or talk to. I know last year the Broncos had only talked to Bradley Chubb once and that was at the Combine.
