Sorry but it just looks desperate to want to keep someone against their will.
SC int keeping anyone against their will. This is just being blown up by the media. I'll break down it down.

KK signed a contract with USC. His duties span from installing a new system all the way down to recruiting. No different than he would have duties that take time and wrk with an NFL team.

The Only think USC has done is invoke an NFL rule. That states you need permission to contact a college or NFL coach under contract. Violations of that rule may result in an NFL team losing draft picks. KK has a low buy out he is more than capable of taking that option resigning and interviewing.Swann would be foolish to approve the interviews.

By approvingth interviews he would be running the risk. Of a drug out process and having to find a replacement last minute. By using the option to decline the interviews. He is making KK make a choice. Either stay with SC and get to work. Or take the buy out and leave so SC can do whats best for the program.

In the end this is on KK now not a "dick move" solid business move plain and simple nothing more

He had a chance to sign a contract with who ever he wanted. he could have taken more time before he made a decision. It's ridiculous that you think any and every job is the same. I signed a contract once that I lived with even though after a couple of years I could have tippled my salary working in the private sector. Holding him up to his part of the bargan is'nt a dick move it's a smart move. Just like he should be pissed if USC would have come up to him and said hey I know you just signed to be our OC but this one OC from an NFL team just got let loose and we'd like to interview him for your job. And if he nails it pack you bags.
Agree you don't take a job as a safety valve for leverage. When that job could be filled by someone else. That can start putting the work in. SC gave KK a choice he's not a hostage. He just needs to decide what he wants. So all parties can move forward either way

It wouldn’t bother me if he chooses to buy out the current deal he jumped on now that he thinks he can do better. I also don’t think less of USC for holding him to the contract he just signed.

If it’s hypocritical to not think USC is being a dick for holding someone they just hired to their contract, so be it, I guess.

It’s always I duck move to put yourself in front of others. Keep in mind Kliff never asked to interview. Teams are prohibited from talking to him, so USC just showed him how they think of their employees. That is the issue, especially on something that was probably a 20% chance to happen

Call it what you want, if someone wants one of your people for what is a definite job upgrade it’s a bad look to not allow it. I personally think they are better off without the guy anyway but that is how I see it.

Id just fire him.

Said it before, want to make sure it's understood.

What are you going to fire him for? The Jets and the Cards asked the AD if they could speak to him, how is that on KK? It’s kind of the whole point of this, USC didn’t give KK an option to make any choice

Please tell me I am misunderstanding this whole story.

Please tell me NFL teams are NOT wanting to talk to Coach GQ about a HEAD coaching job.

Please tell me NFL teams are NOT that desperate.

So he can go pursue furthering his career elsewhere.

And I can find a guy who is looking to coach, for me.

Serious dick move...

Report: USC is denying NFL teams permission to interview Kliff Kingsbury

USC is not too keen on the idea of new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury heading to the NFL.

At last month’s NFL owners meetings in Dallas, league officials informed team executives that they now had to request permission from college athletic directors to interview college coaches. Not doing so would be considered “conduct detrimental” and the NFL then could dock draft picks from teams, sources said.

“If permission is denied, the NFL club should respect that decision just as it would respect a similar decision from another NFL club,” the rule states in part. “NFL clubs that fail to follow these protocols may be subject to disciplinary action for conduct detrimental to the League.”

Report: Kingsbury may resign at USC
With Swann denying him opportunities, Kingsbury may opt to leave USC altogether.

Per multiple sources, Kingsbury’s contract has a very low buyout. But the buyout never came up because the NFL teams, honoring the strong mandate issued at last month’s ownership meeting, contacted Swann and requested permission to interview Kingsbury. Swann said no, and that was the end of it. But that may not be the end of it. Kingsbury, the former Texas Tech head coach, may simply pay the buyout, walk away, and see what happens with any NFL head-coaching or offensive coordinator opportunities.

Kingsbury was hired at USC 10 days after he was fired

This wrinkle leads to a big question: Why did he sign on with USC so soon if the Trojans were going to deny him from interviewing with NFL teams for head coaching jobs?

But, as we know, there’s a difference between being an offensive coordinator for a team that’s looking for a change on one side of the ball and the head coach in charge of an entire team.

Kingsbury went 35-40 in his time at Texas Tech, his alma mater, and the Red Raiders were 5-7 in 2018.
Is it not a dick move by Kliffy as well? Signs a contract and less than a month later is looking at NFL job offers? Both sides seem shady in this

Clearly, you have 0 idea about the situation. Kliff has never talked to anyone. NFL teams can’t talk to him or his agent or they risk losing draft picks

How can he make a dick move, when he wasn’t consulted about any of this?

Again, do I have this right?

A guy isn't good enough to be the head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders but he is good enough to be the head coach of an NFL team?

Then again, I thought Herm Edwards at ASU would never work!

Didn't admit to anything. The joke just went over your head and continues to.

It’s ok. You’re a hypocrite. You can just own it instead of trying some lame ass “it was a joke you just didn’t get” bullshit.

Sc didn't leak his contract or buy out to the media. Private school they don't have to. That was on his agent.....He was given a choice stay at SC and get to work or take the buy out and interview. I get "SC is holding KK back" is the more interesting story. But Swann made the proper business move and this is on KK now

It'd be nice to believe in a world of rule followers. It really would.
