Their schedule wasn’t trash, though. That’s been repeated with no supporting evidence. Colley Matrix and many other objective ranking systems had them in the top 5.

You would have to open a dimensional doorway to find someone who had UCF's SOS in the top 5.

Colley had UCF in their top 5, and SOS is a factor in that. Hell, our own SOS going into the CFP was nothing to write home about (partly because FSU underachieved).

Regardless, going 12-0 against their schedule easily should’ve been enough to get into an 8-team playoff had one existed.

Yes, it's a factor...not a good one for them, they were in the top 5 in colley in spite of their SOS not because of it. Had they gone 12-0 with Alabama's schedule they would have been in a 4 team playoff.

This year their SOS rank is even worse at 96.

They are both bad. We had are worst SOS of the Saban era last year, and it was still 20+ spots higher than UCF last year.

It wasn’t 20+ points better before the postseason, though. Regardless, both Bama and UCF warranted slots in the hypothetical 8-team playoff last year. I’m not sure why so many are hostile to the idea of UCF getting in.

I’m ok with it in an 8 team but not a 4 team. Not until they step up their OOC to be something above Baylor levels.

Agree on the first sentence, but the Baylor comparison isn’t apt. They have scheduled multiple P5 opponents, and lost a couple of games due to weather. They can only control so much of their schedule.

I don’t think adding a 2-9 UNC was going to help their SOS very much.

Baylor played 7-5 Duke and had an extra P5 game because of a 9 game conference schedule. I’d say they are on par with UCF.
