Hey

The reason I’m talking from when the Broncos joined the NFL is because, you know, that’s the league that currently exists and they’re in.

They were freaking 8 AFL teams and yet you people are acting like it’s the NFL of today with how many teams that were and that it want a completely different league.
That league competed the same teams that are in the NFL today. Not like the Deluth bulldogs or some bullshit team was in the AFL. Bills, Oilers [Titans], Dolphins, Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, Broncos, Patriots, Jets. Let's cut the crap here- this wasn't some clown league; the fact there even was a merger is testament to that.

It'd be one thing if you were talking trash on say a Colts fan, it gets dumb when you talk smack on also AFL franchise fan because they played in the same league at the same time. It's not hard to figure out why it's brought up; especially when the core of those 60's teams did go on to participate and/or win SB's in the case of Oakland and Kansas City just out of the modern AFC WEST. LA/SD won an AFL title as well I think, but if you want to ignore that in a 8 team league or whatever, cool; won't fight ya.

For a Broncos fans to use history as a crutch against a Chiefs fan and still get your shit pushed in is impressive. That's just about the easiest layup ever with how down the Chiefs have been in the postseason for the past 50 years. How you fucked that up is amazing. Like a Packer fan kicking the Vikings and breaking his proverbial leg in the process.

Let me ask @SteelersPride and @There is A Moose at 3rd a question. Why do people consider the Eagles Super Bowl win last year their first championship? Before the AFL-NFL merger they won the NFL league championship 3 times and yet no one counts those and do you know why? Because the league was fucking different back then it’s not the same.

It’s a completely different league than what existed after the merger which is why it’s not considered legitimate. They still exist in history but no one uses them to say the Eagles have 4 world titles instead of one. It’s exact same with the Broncos in the NFL record, it’s before the league that we know existed which means yes it’s still technically exist but it’s not used in conversation because it’s a different league.

And I’m glad you brought up the Chargers, they have zero world titles that people recognize, what they did in the AFL doesn’t fucking matter, no one classifies it as legitimate you look at anybody the Chargers are still winless when it comes to world titles.

They don't- they consider it their first SB. And for most people alive- that's all that counts.

Would require some knowledge of history to understand the difference. What you're not getting is the core of those 60's teams in the AFL were very muchso competitive with the NFL. That's half the whole point the NFL merged; Al Davis wanted to kill the NFL outright.

It's really psychotic how much dancing Duffman has to do get around the fact that Denver completely sucked in the 60's, in a relevant time period which does overlap with the SB era, or at least a transition period. All of this could have been easily avoided if he could get basic facts right, but he's far too derpy for it, apparently.

(keep in mind he didn't qualify losing seasons, so he got called out on it, and has backpedaled hard since)

If we're talking completely different league, I got bad news for the teams in the 1990's...

This whole standard is stupid. I am gonna call it a night here before I lose more braincells dealing with nonsense.

I’m not saying the AFL wasn’t good what you’re not getting is I’m saying it was a different league because they’re not playing against the number of teams they do now. Yes we’ve had expansion since then but the NFL after the merger went up to 24 teams, that’s a big difference from playing 8.

You can go 5-9 against the teams from the AFL but when you throw the NFL in there it’s a completely different league entirely.

It’s exact same as the ABA and the NBA, they merged and became a new league doesn’t mean everything the ABA teams did before joining the NBA are recognized on the same level.

We're not counting AFL titles you moron (I even pre-empted it earlier).... good god- I have lost my patience with your idiocy. Guess what- the Jets, Raiders, and Chiefs all won SB's. I'll have to put you on my ignore list to stay disciplined this time.

So you’re not counting AFL titles but you’re counting the records, ya that makes a ton of sense.

You don’t get to pick and choose what you count from before the AFL NFL merger.

I generally don't like counting championships not everyone can recognize- but sure- they count in the loosest sense, just not as much as I'd like them too. Bottom line is they played in that same league along with the rest of the AFL clubs, and it didn't work out for them. Tap-dance and use semantics all you want though.

You should probably get a couple things straight. The AFL was not really competitive with the NFL until the very end of the 60s. Reality is for them to stay afloat they needed a lot of circus acts to sell tickets and most of the teams lost massive amounts of money. Every one of the original AFL teams should be kissing a statue of Lamar Hunt that he kept them afloat. The entire league was damn close to folding until Hunt got them a TV contract and it allowed them to then go out and sign college stars.

You're correct that the Broncos were a complete clown show for their first 15 years. They were so ridiculously operated that they had to burn their original uniforms because they were so bad. The product they put on the field wasn't much better, but there were laws against burning bad athletes and sports organizations. Yes, even in the 60s they had rules about that.

You don't really get to talk shit about the original NFL franchises as they are what the AFL was striving to be. We can all thank the owners of the 60's that they had the foresight to merge and make the fantastic product that we enjoy today. No matter how much we bitch and moan about the rules and commish, we still tune in a watch then come here and bitch about it...but we're still watching.

Also, the Vikings are fucks that can't win the big one...even when they have the most talent and good coaching they find a way to fuck it up...it's what they do and who they are...even their fans know this, most won't publicly admit it, but they know the Vikings will let them down...they've been doing exactly that for almost 60 years.
