Isnt Amri Cooper a speed guy? How do you call him a possession receiver? Just saw on TV he has the 4th best avg. yds of separation.

He's fast, but I don't know how fast he plays (haven't seen many Raider games thankfully). He does average 14 yards per reception though. Whether it's QB play or poor routes, he hasn't converted targets to catches very well (225 catches on 389 targets for his career thus far isn't very good, about 58%).

Man, the Cowboy's giving up a 1st round pick, at 3-4 on the season that's a huge gamble, if Cooper doesn't pan out and the Cowboy's end up with a shitty record this year that's gonna HURT big time not getting that top 1st round pick... The whole point of having a sub par season is getting those top draft pics ... I realize the whole point is to NOT have a shitty season, but it's a gamble giving up a 1st ...

Yup, this means we have to win the East or a lot of people lose their jobs.

Sadly, the stupid GM will not be one of them. Should be fun giving Cooper a new contract this offseason too. :L

Jerry needs to hire a good GM and hold himself accountable... But he owns the party so he's gonna do what he wants.... Cowboy's season is far from over so maybe this makes an impact, time will tell, BUT DAM!! a 1st round pick?

The biggest problem I see here is Amari Cooper learning the playbook. Then he has to get on the same page with Dak. The QB/Receiver relationsion requires a lot of reps with each other to learn each other tendencies as well as what to do in certain situations. This is why some of the best QB's will put in some off season work with their receivers. So with only 9 games left it is a tall order to expect them to get on the same page.

Damn. That is awful actually. Didn’t realize it was that low.

One thing of note. Aside from the final go ahead and make the trade, this isn't Jerry's idea, it was Stephen and Will McClay, who worked this out.

Dez is better? Than Cooper? I don't know when the last time you actually watched Dez play Football was, but he's home on his couch and no one even wants him and you think he is better than Cooper who one team gave a 1st for and at least one other offered a 2nd rounder? Dez will be 30 in two weeks. Cooper just turned 24. I get that we all have our own opinions, but this is just a ridiculous statement.

My biggest issue with this is that Cooper gets $14M next year which is why I wouldn't have given up a high pick for Cooper. He is likely going to be better in 2019 than any WR drafted next year and then Dallas also gets him for half of this year and sad as it seems this could win a horrible NFC East for Dallas this year. It does make the team better; Dez would not.
Zero chance Coopers better than every receiver drafted next year. And I don't see this improving Dallas anymore than the addition of Tavon Austin did.

I'd take Dez.

Funny. Amari Pooper is Dez 2.0 with more speed. Concrete hands and disappears for weeks at a time.
Cooper has talent though. The recent drops, I think, are in his head. I remember when Jerry Rice first came to the 49ers he couldn't catch anything and he turned out OK.

Brings too much baggage with him. he's a side show all to himself.

Yes, but Rice was a rookie and halfway through his rookie season Rice caught fire and that was it. This has been going on with Cooper the past two seasons.

Its odd. Didn't he catch like 16 hundred yards worth of passes a couple of years ago?

I don't know about that. How much playbook knowledge do you really need in order to get open and have your QB look at you and then tuck the ball and run/get sacked?

In those two I trust. but unless he leads us to a SB (which WR's don't do) this is way too much to pay considering it is a 1st and $14M next year then UFA.

Fully agree, just pointing out to those who keep bringing up Jerry are stuck in a time machine.

A+ trade for the Raiders, D for the Cowboys.

Cooper has shown flashes but he's also shown he's an injury prone non factor in a lot of games. Couple that with noodle arm Prescott when Cooper's biggest weapon is downfield speed, and I don't get this trade at all. LOL at the Cowboys.... and in the event this trade works out than great... I want Gruden to fail as massively as possible. Still at face value this is a major win for the Raiders.

I think Cooper had at least one thousand yard season, maybe two. Last year cooper and the rest of the offense went south. Letting their OC walk was a big mistake
