You'd be an old mother fucker, dude.

They had equal fucking records. Cubs had a three game advantage vs Brewers, Brewers had a three game advantage over the rest of baseball. That's not enough to break a tie when this much is on the line.

If you've been an MLB fan for so long, you'd know that three games don't mean shit, that's why they play 162.
One game in 162 is enough to declare a champion. You’re stating 3 in 19 h2h isn’t enough as a tie breaker to that?
That doesn’t even make internal sense as an argument

Play game 163. The Opening Day rosters are often different from the way the season ended. They've gained and lost players, gotten better or worse. Let there be one last game to decide who moves on when it's all on the line.

And fuck the Dodgers.

No of course not.

You happen to be the kind of baseball fan that would like to see fewer baseball games. To each his own, I suppose.

Well you're treating it as a crime lol.

God forbid I don't agree that an extra WC team should be in the "playoffs" and essentially handed a participation trophy.

Bullshit. My handcuffs aren't even out.

Now we've moved from the game 163 debate to the wild card format? I can roll with that.

This new wild card format is the exact opposite of a participation trophy - at least relative to the old format. In the past, a 2nd place team was "handed a participation trophy" and immediately put into the playoffs on equal footing with the divisional winners. That's bullshit. Wild Card winners didn't win their division, so they should have a tougher road to the championship - the new WC format provides that tougher road.

Seeing as how the Cubs added Chapman to their bullpen in the middle of 2016, I think the H2H tends to take on a little different meaning.

The Brewers added 4 or 5 guys to their roster in the middle of this season who weren't with them in March. Different team.

Darvish didn't pitch this summer.

Bryant was out for awhile.

All these anecdotes are useful if you want them to be.

That being the case, MLB has in place a method for teams to improve through trades, signings, roster modifications ... if this is about which team is the best on the last day of the season, I'd argue that it's as important who's the best on the first day of the season.

I was in support of the tiebreaker game. I will support the tiebreaker game again if it happens. It won't happen often enough to get all crushed up in the underwear about it.

If you plan to win the W.S. you don't have to win every game ... just the last one.

WC format changes forever altered the way the baseball season is approached. In years past, the "sellers" dumped and the buyers, few in number, bought. Now, with the 2nd spot more alluring, there are at least 3 or 4 teams that won't sell on the deadline and are inclined to buy. For the players, that's a gold mine of opportunity.

The 2nd WC team is basically an answer to the Red Sox getting screwed on the last day by Tampa a few years back, but it's worked out OK.

A participation trophy? Seriously? You gotta hang around till the last week of the season to get a sniff at a one-game win or lose. I hardly think that's handing something out.

Agreed. That was Terry’s idea.

Teams in the same division essentially play the same schedule. If they're tied at the end of 162, let em play 1 more. If team A went 19-0 against Team B, but they are tied, team A should have did better against the rest of the schedule, which is essentially the same as Team B's.

It's not like one team has to play the AL Central in interleague while the other has to play the AL East. They each play their division opponents 19 times apiece, and have one series at home and one away with the rest of their league, and they both play the same division in interleague.

teams play division rivals an odd-number of games.
Should the season series winner just be declared the division champ in case of a tie?

Wouldn't most say the team who had more home games had an advantage.

I say leave it as it is.

Home field is hardly an advantage in mlb.

Someone gonna have to run into one for the Rockies

Because the chances they manufacture a run seem very slim
