Then, why do teams try to win HFA?
Ticket sales.

Hence, there were 70 postseason series and two wild-card games from 2003 through 2012.

Amazingly, the team with home-field advantage won only 37 of those matchups, which translates to 51 percent overall. Basically, home field holds no advantage in baseball.”

The 10 playoff teams this year are a combined 492-319 at home. That's 61%.

The results are in, dunce. Because you refuse to note them, doesn’t make it any less true.

Home field isn’t that big of a deal in mlb. Like I said.

Playoff teams win most of their games? Shocker. You must be a genius.

Last year the playoff teams were 487-323 at home. 60%.

To suggest that there's nothing to HFA is retarded.
You are doubling down? Playoff teams win most of their games. HTF do you translate that to home field advantage? Please tell me you’re not this stupid?

And I didn’t say there was nothing to it. What I said that it doesn’t matter in mlb all that much, definitely not enough to discount head2head when NINETEEN games are played between the two teams, 9 at one venue and 10 at the other.

OK, question for you a truthful answer should shut you up.

Do teams on general win more at home rather than on the road?

Yes. In all of mlb history, they win 54% of the time. Do the math calculating that in a 19 game series where only one extra game is played at one venue, that is tantamount to 50-50.

You lose.

Your argument is bunk.

One extra game out of nineteen in no way negates the prospect of h2h as a good tie-breaker.

Home field for 1 game is not important, depending on who's pitching. Over 162, playing half your games in one ballpark ought to be worth something and it always is for teams that win division races. Even so, if a team goes 50-31 at home that's rare air. What you don't want to do is go 31-50 on the road.

If you are going to take the post-season and say it applies across the board, at least pick a point that compares the two. A best of 5 series between two of the best teams in the league who have quality pitchers is not quite the same as having 19 games against the Orioles.

I don't think they would have played G 163 had a wild-card not been on the line.

Hardcore baseball fans stumping for fewer baseball games. Sure.

Well, he got the excuse he needed to blame someone other than the Cubs for them not winning the Pennant

More baseball, for most fans, is a good thing.

2 game 163's was cool AF.

Unexpectedly, they both turned out to be great games. Usually at least one of those would have ended up as a blowout

It's still an advantage one team had over the other. Best solutions is to leave it as is. Why do so many people want to fix something that's not broken?

Because the Cubs didn't win the Division.

It wasn't to their teams advantage this year, so they need to blame something for their team bowing out.

Pre wild card game, I read a complaint that the Cubs wouldn't have home field when they advance. I guess Colorado fixed that issue.
