He is not worth more than a 6th IMO. Not because he lacks talent but because he is not under a long term deal and the team that gets him will not be able to franchise (because of the cost) him and there is no guarantee he will resign.

While team that gets him owns his rights and will get a 3rd in return if he signs somewhere else it is worth may be worth the risk.

The Steelers have no bargaining power because they want him gone. They might as well just eat the loss and move on.

If he goes anywhere, it's gonna be as a rental more than likely. So no team is gonna over invest in him if they are trading him. However, he will produce for whoever he plays for, which is why I think most teams would give a 3rd or 4th for him.

I can see a 4th because the return if he signs elsewhere is a 3rd rounder if reports are accurate.

Yeah a comp 3rd rounder.

If someone offers a 4th they need to take it ASAP. It would be stupid on their part to try to negotiate anything more. All reports if accurate have the locker room pissed off at him. The Steelers are at a boiling point as far as their season is concerned and he will only make matters worse. If they start getting things together it would be smart for them to not have him even show up to the facilities.

Why would Pittsburgh give him away for a 4th when they'll likely get a compensatory third rounder for eventually losing him to FA?

... and who would give up a third rounder for a partial season in the hopes he signs a ridiculous long term deal?

I think Pittsburgh is stuck with him. The time for a trade has long passed.

I'd say 5th at best. A rental who plays half the season at most. Plus he is clearly more concerned about what happens after this year rather then during it.

Well if they want his headache around sure. And yes, they would get a 3rd if they lost him and didn't make a big FA aquisition (otherwise that could be nothing).

Well there's a few parts here.

1. If he's just a cancer right now to have around and on the team.

2. If they plan on making some big FA moves in the off-season. Only get a compensatory pick if you lose more than you gain. And one of the parts of that formula is playing time the year before, which might move him to a 4th (meaning may not have to add an elite FA to cancel out Bell).

3. That's 8 million dollars saved by the Rooneys.

4. If they are really planning on transition tagging him if they don't trade him like what they supposedly have said, he wouldn't be a true UDFA next year and I believe may not count towards the compensatory pickup. Dolphins pulled the transition tag off of Olivier Vernon a couple years ago because they wanted that compensatory pick.

They'll get a 3rd round comp pick for him so they won't take anything less than a 3rd for him.

The whole locker room dynamic is being overblown. These guys are professionals and they'll go out there and do their jobs regardless if they like a guy or not. It's not like it's a tight-knit group of guys in the first place so I doubt Bell would do much more damage to an already damaged locker room.

And if he's that big of a problem just park him on the IR which he would love anyways and let him do his own thing until the years over.
