"hi guys....you guys playing cards?"Brees
I don't know. I'd still draw the line before Rivers. Right now I think he is at 'Chargers should retire his jersey' and not 'NFL should put him in HOF'
Rivers is in year 2 or 3 of a second stint of a team that could compete for a title. I think without a MVP like performance this season and/or a deep playoff run then he shouldn't even be in consideration.
Phil Rivers forgot to take advantage of the hot chicks
But when the game changes, qualifications need to be made differently. They should be compared to other players in the same position at the same time. That said, I think Rivers would still qualify just barely. It's never made sense to me that we devalue QB numbers now because " it's a pass first league and the rules are set up to help the offense " but we dont do the same with receivers or TEs.
"Tony Gonzalez isn't a Hall of Famer because his stats are a product of the rules now!!!"
See how stupid that sounds??
If a guy who will be in the Top 10 of nearly every passing category possible by the time hes eligible isn't a Hall of Famer then just get rid of the Hall

i guess i need clarification on the question being asked... are we discussing 'should' he be in HOF or 'will' he be ... ?
for me personally i do not think he 'should' be but i think he 'will' be because it's easy for QB's with big numbers to get in ....
I agree. And that's fine but then do it for all offensive positions
I mean... he does have the money for those kids and as far as I know he has no baby mamas. I am not hating. And birth control, apparently.
People always use that term " hall of fame level" but what does that mean? Theres a boatload of people in the Hall with shitty numbers ( comparitively) to guys recently . Most of us never saw any of those guys play so it's tough to comment on them . I feel like it's a catch all term to use when you want an excuse to say no to a guy. I know that's not what you're doing here but it's always struck me as a copoutSame with me and Eli
He has not spent his career playing at a HOF level
But knowing how the process works? He is a lock

I think I would've had him too 5 a few years but when you're in the same era as Brady, Manning, Rodgers and Brees it's not like it's easy to be top 5 a bunch lolI agree.
I think that if you can be ranked in the top 3 at your position for several years, that should be the biggest requirement. Then factor in other things like post season, intangibles and other stuff.
I don't think I ever considered Rivers in the top 5 QB's any year he has played.
speaking of Rivers and his 8 kids, i didn't know this but i heard an interview someone had with Ryan Fitzpatrick and he and his wife have their 7 kid on the way so he's catching up with Rivers
It should only be compared to your peers at the time. Rivers probably averages out to 5th or 6th best the years he has played. Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Luck, Big Ben, Stafford, Newton, Ryan, Wilson, Romo, Warner, Mcnabb and others were either better than him or close.Lots of guys in the Hall already would fall short if getting compared to Rodgers, Brees, Peyton and Brady
Itll be interesting . Rivers is really a poor man's Matt Ryan. Ryan will likely finish ahead of him in most every stat and Ryan has been in a SB and won at least 1 MVP yet there are lots of people here who dont think hes a HOFer either. I can honestly see it both ways but numbers have to count for something even if you think they're "easier" to get nowIt should only be compared to your peers at the time.
