I've been reading 2 in a row, then a different author for a while and then 2 in a row again.

Reading #8, Perdition Score at the moment.

Not looking forward to the day I'm all done.....

I don't like deep reading, I simply want to escape.

And Kadrey serves it up very nicely for me.
have you read the Dresden Files? It's a huge series and a lot of fun to read...but I am all caught up. Now I sit and wait for Butcher to put the next one out.

I put in the request for them to buy a copy. I might as well just get a paperback from Amazon for $7.

I'm requesting things all the time these days.

I'm patient.

I have Wilbur Smith's Courtney series waiting for a re-read. Big thick suckers.

I'm not much of a re-reader

I don't know if anyone here has read B. Justin Shier, but his 2 books are really good. Just know if you start there will never be an ending for his series, he became a doctor and is no longer writing. Some people are way mad about it, but how can you be mad that a dude worked hard and built a career that does not involve the unknown of self publishing?

I'll watch a movie again, why not a book? Especially a good one.
there are a couple movies I will re-watch...and there are some books I like to re-read (Catch-22, Good Omens)

but they aren't tombs like a GRRM book or something from Sanderson.

got my copy of Sandman Slim last week and started reading. Easy read, shouldn't take any time to get through it. We will see if I keep going with the series.

Another series that I enjoyed a lot was Hard Luck Hank. Similar flow to sandman slim, but it is humorous and scifi instead of urban fantasy.

Sandman Slim was alright. I am going to check out the next one in the series to see if I want to keep going with it.

Picked up A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab. I liked A Darker Shade of Magic and so far I like how Shadows is starting off.

Just started reading the A Song of Ice and Fire series. I think I like Arya even more in the book than the show. Just read the part where she threw an orange at Sansa's head and said, "You have juice running down your face, your Grace."

LOL.

And earlier when she was asked to describe Joffrey, she says, "Jon says he looks like a girl."

:laugh3:

Kids a gut buster and I love it.

there might be a little too much religion in the books for your liking.

I hear the topic of religion is handled much better in the books than the show.
yea, I'd say you get a better understanding of its importance in the books.

I am very slowly working my way through a biography of Marcus Aurelius...it's very well researched and informative, but it's been slow going for two reasons.
1. Too much detail on non-essential topics, to my mind...as an example, in discussing MA's Stoicism, the author will name check a dozen other Stoics while providing some discussion on the differences between their belief systems and THEN get into Epicureanism vs. Stoicism while discussing another dozen philosophers from that school and their contributions. I find myself putting the book down and consulting my library or the web to be able to keep up with the torrent of info.
2. The author is an egotistical jerk and it's impossible to ignore...towards the end of the above discussion, he will make it clear that he feels all the people being discussed were idiots and wonders how they could have believed such stupid things.

I need to get this book over with and move on...should check and see if there any works by Cormac McCarthy that I have missed!

I finally started reading Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson. I have absolutely loved this series so far and am not sure why I waited so long to start book 3. About 6% done, loving it so far.

If you like baseball Seasons In Hell by Mike Shropshire is a great read. It's about a sports writer who covered the Texas Rangers from '73-'75.

In the same vein, "A False Spring" by Pat Jordan is one of my favorite sports books.
A fireballing pitcher who flamed out in the minors and then became a sportswriter turns the magnifying glass on himself without pulling any punches. It's also interesting to read about guys who became major league stars during their minor league years.
