Yes we are spoon-fed too much nowadays, but a simple 2-3 minute scene that incorporated both the background & the timeline would have been easy to do and wouldn't have been overwhelming at all. A better closeup of those newspapers would have probably revealed a lot that. Given the amount of newspapers he had pinned up makes me think the invasion was some time in the past. All I'm really sayin is that it takes quite the leaps of faith to connect all these dots, and really nobody can say for certain whats true or not. Its all theories. Which is why so many people are drilling the ratings. I'm sure the ratings will hold because like you & I, people should be able to use their imagination to make up their own connections.

Well if the mother was indeed pregnant in the beginning sequence then I don't know why the director made the point after the timejump to get a close-up of her belly. They wanted it to be very clear that she was pregnant AFTER the timejump.

And another thing that I might have missed... Where the F did they get all that beach sand to make all those trails? That would have taken months or longer to complete.
I guess i just like to play devil's advocate regardless of the side, though i this seems like one of the times where I'm more in favor of a movie than others.

okay, so time-jump wise, i think it's clear she was pregnant at the beginning of the movie, i don't think that's arguable. if you want to guess as to how long the invasion has been before the opening scene and if they got pregnant afterwards, that's as far as I can give you on that.

I did watch Hungry Wives yesterday, 1972 Romero flick, did not care for it.

That's crazy. Sort of a coincidence that you say that because I was reading recently about how Patton did the score for the 1922 movie on Netflix.
Did the score for Crank 2, and a few others, as well.

Done a handful of video games, too, I believe? Busy dude.

You say it's clear she was preggo at the beginning all based on the fact that she wasn't carrying the youngest child? That makes no sense. It is very debatable unless there was a clear shot or indication of her pregnancy. Unless I missed something small, there was nothing to indicate it. Why else would the director make it clear as day that she was pregnant after the time jump? If he wanted us to believe she was preg before the timejump then he could have made it that clear during the beginning sequence.

i guess otherwise, i just concede that's be a stupid, selfish decision by them in general, which makes no sense to me.

Watched Child Eater last night. A kinda generic monster who can't be killed/local legend flick about a guy who went blind and now eats the eyes of children to help him see? This is kinda strange since he doesn't necessarily seem blind and it isn't clear how eating children's eyes helps him to see, but whatever.
It has all of the earmarks that it should be a good mid-low budget horror movie.

Backstory is semi-original (though somehow redundant to the genre). Soundtrack is good. Setting and camerawork is decent. Fxs are pretty good. Creature is relatively creepy. Acting isn't horrible. Despite all of this, I was never approaching scared, and in fact was just trying to stay intrigued and not bored.

A near hit and miss. Some good quality points but just couldn't quite pull it together. 5.5 outta 10.

My review if you care to read:

Horror Movies

Posted over a year ago and honestly I couldn't remember much about the movie based on watching the trailer you posted. Had to read my review before things started to connect. Obviously it wasn't memorable lol.

Your review is a little kinder than mine. I can't disagree with your synopsis but I really didn't see the Jason Vorees resemblance. Still, not a bad movie but it just didn't draw me in.

I do notice that our reviews are often very similar and in agreement. In fact this 1 point rating difference is probably about as large of a variance that we have had here, and 1 point isn't much!

Agreed! I’ve noticed we have very similar taste.

Sometimes you can tell how much I had to drink while watching it if I’m overly high on a crappy B movie. :pound:

Internet urban legend that started probably 15 years ago. First heard about it from one of my nephews. He was pretty freaked out by it. Dug into it and found out it first started from a collection of photoshopped photos that caught like wildfire on the internet. Still have no idea why it caught on so well. But I have to admit, the videos that hit YouTube shortly after it started were pretty creative. They played on first person filming styles that were still very popular & new at the time.

I’ve seen maybe 3-4 slender man films. Pretty sure I reviewed a few as well. But I’ve always been pretty disappointed with them. Seems like with the right budget a movie could be a big hit.

I assume you're being facetious, yes?

For as much hype as it got, I was disappointed.

Nope. First time I've seen it, and thought it was well done until I could no longer figure out what the payoff was. So yeah, ultimately I was disappointed as well.
