It may be completely bogus, but most lawyers do come off overly confident.

Yeah, the lawyer's confidence is not proof of innocence.

But he makes a pretty good point about the Houston Chief of Police's harsh language towards Bennett. Calling him morally bankrupt because he allegedly knocked over an elderly woman seems pretty excessive. The CoP also saying that the only evidence they have is one of his cops being a witness and that being all the evidence they need seems pretty odd to me as well.

Well, I'd say you have to be Morally Bankrupt if you willing to push aside the elderly or a handicapped person. If these charges are true Bennett did both. I don't see how anyone could even consider defending Bennetts Morals.

I would say that it is more than a little ridiculous to call Bennett morally bankrupt for pushing anyone assuming he did. This is a crime that the CoP concedes wasn't a particularly important case which was why it took so long to prosecute. Yet Bennett is morally bankrupt for perpetrating it?

Seems to me that their personal dislike of Bennett's politics are coming into play.

You're making assumptions.

You're making assumptions.

It is a speculation. It could be wrong. It's possible that Bennett went out of his way to intentionally injure a 65 year old paraplegic. Seems pretty unlikely but I guess it is possible.

I would say it's nice to meet you but you are an unlikable, angry, racist pos so it's not really ...

All that matters when you have a misguided, poorly coordinated "protest" is how it is perceived. Kneeling was perceived as a slight towards the military, and rightly so with all the work (and money taken) by the NFL to tie the NFL to the anthem, the flag, and the military. Then the fact that when the kneelers were told how it looked they kept doing it, that said everything most need to know.

For the record I was against the protests from the very beginning. Did Kap really believe we aren't aware every time it happens? Shit that story in Sacramento has been all over the news for days and so has every other similar story. So I'm not on that side, never was, and said so at the time on KFFL.

I'm simply pointing out that the players didn't stop after hearing the displeasure from the military because they for some reason felt their message still needed to be heard. And that message was very clear, the POLICE treatment of AAs, not the military. They heard the cry from the military guys, felt it was not enough of a reason to stop the protests.

Again never said I agree with it, just pointing out that saying this was a protest against the military is every bit of wrong because they were more collateral damage than the actual target.

I don't think anyone said he went out of his way to injure anyone. Why are you trying to take this to unsubstantiated levels?

If you remember the story correctly Tony Dungy was working with Vick and steered him to Philly cause Andy Reid had a rep of not signing ding bats. Vick had opportunities to start but Dungy interviened and steered him to a place where he was going to be number 3 because at the time it was a mature, veteran lead team. We’ve discussed this before. All teams have picked players with questionable character but there is a few teams that do it over and over. I’m not even saying it’s wrong but Dallas and Cincy are the two teams known for gambling on questionable cases. Vick did come back and redeem himself. He was a fantastic leader. He did a ton in the Philly school district. Built parks, donated millions and paid back every single debt. Also the NFL did a questionnaire asking every player who was the nicest player in the entire NFL and Vick won. Nobody said Philly or anybody else don’t take chances but some teams roll the dice a lot more.

Except that the indictment specifically claims that he knowingly and intentionally tried to cause bodily harm to the woman.

I get where you stand. My point is that it doesn't matter what you "intend" the protest to be about when you have so little definition to it. Random guys doing random things and random times leads to confusion. it was perceived as a slight to the military and the players essentially said "screw what you think, I'm still doing this".

I said it then and I say it now, the kneeling was to get attention. once they had the attention they should have moved to phase 2 which is speaking about the issue. They never did that, they just kept kneeling or raising a fist or doing whatever despite knowing they weren't having the intended effect. They should have gone to the post game mics, but instead kept kneeling in silence like a bunch of misguided "look at me, I am woke too" morons.

Oh, It's definitely their personal dislike of Bennett's politics. There's a reason the Chief made sure he mentioned that the lady was black.
