Agree about Darboh. I even watch a few repeat of UM games, and meh.

McEvoy, this guy makes play after play. I really hope McEvoy makes the team.

Baldwin
Lockett (still not sure on health), keeper for sure, but will he be Inactive for a few weeks?
Richardson
Williams
McEvoy
Kearse

Darboh/Moore ????

Many people have Darboh AND Kearse making the team, I'm not sold on BOTH.
Kearse is proven, Darboh has done nothing.

agreed
i feel they might keep 7 WR until Lockett proves he is 100% healthy but that 7th will also be a ST/Return guy but it could be Darboh. The only guy on the team that has shown a spark here and there as a Returner/ST guy is McKissic who is listed as a RB ( although he is wearing a WR number ). Love your 6 WR you assume make it, Darboh would replace one of those guys if he makes it ( if the hawks only keep 6 ) and i do not like him right now over any of those guys. I was hoping for something, ANYTHING, from Darboh yet we have seen nothing and as far as practice/training camp i have been to 3 of them and he was invisible in all of those. He never did anything that stood out other than a few drops on perfect throws. One was down the sideline and he was wide open.

It's really sad as he was one of my ones to watch along with Carson and Griffin who btw has not impressed me ( Griffin ). I mean heck i just want to see something anything even if it's just a single catch. As far as blocking Kearse is better than Darboh and McEvoy spends time as a Hybrid TE and is involved in more blocking drills than most WR's on the team and looks competent in that role. ( Hybrid TE ) No doubt EVERYONE loves his 6 foot 6 size also.

I have heard rumblings of Kearse being traded for Oline help also. If they offload Kearse then there is Darbohs in but the fact they are willing to "trade" Kearse means they might be willing to cut him. Darboh and Kearse are like clones of each other with Darboh having the edge in speed but Kearse in strength/Blocking and experience. I feel if Kearse is on the 53 man roster Darboh will be on the PS and if he is not then Darboh makes the 53. I do not see a way for both to be on the roster, well unless they keep 7.

If the Kearse trade rumors are accurate, I think he's on his way out. They're trying to trade him before they have to cut him, so I'm predicting the 6 WRs on the 53 will be Baldwin, Lockett, Richardson, McEvoy, Williams, and Darboh. Will try to get away with Lawler and/or Moore on the PS. Getting younger and cheaper at the position.

RB is going to be very interesting too. McKissic has a good shot to make it, and I don't think the team would have changed his number from 14 to 37 just to cut him in 3 days. I cannot imagine how Carson would get cut after what he's shown and how much praise the coaches have heaped on him (and he's not hiding from anyone on the PS)....keeping 5? If Carson and McKissic are in, then you're either not keeping a FB or 1 of Lacy/Rawls/Prosise is not making it. I think Alex Collins getting the ax is a foregone conclusion at this point.

Not a fan of trading Kearse. He knows this year he has to perform or he's a goner in terms of the NFL.

I also have zero faith that Lockett/Richardson can stay healthy and we're not even talking a "OH NO" injury with Baldwin. I get Williams has been solid this preseason but it's preaseason.

Now if some of you recall I was ALL for getting rid of Kearse 6 months ago, but that was 6 months ago. Outside of Darboh who has been dealing with some small injuries we did ZERO to improve or bolster or WR position. Kearse is not costing us that much money and is in a "Perform or GTFO" situation.

Disagree with Seattle's FO entirely on this, unless we haul in some ridiculous value (2nd round + which isn't going to happen).

It's about the cap more then anything. Kearse is replaceable, his best asset his his run blocking. I hear you on Lockett/ Richardson staying healthy but when healthy much better WRs then Krease. Kasen Williams has looked great. McEvoy has looked good in spurts. Think the Seahawks will be fine without Kearse and every penny counts with the cap problems good teams have.

Eh I fail to see what $4M of cap savings not to mention $3.7M of dead cap (meaning it's ~ $250K of savings) is going to do this season. My thought is Seattle wants to keep the younger guys and is looking to get anything they can for Kearse. I get it, but WR is the one position outside of RB they've shown significant injury issues with and while I get Baldwin has emerged as a decent #1, the overall core is fairly inexperienced. Kearse does at least have some significant experience with Wilson.

OL = 9
QB = 2
TE = 3 Graham. Willson. and Vannett.
25 on Each side, Plus the 3 Specialists = 53.

9+2+3= 14. That leaves 11 for Wr/Rb/Fb

What I would Like. ( 11 )

RB: Rawls, Lacy, Prosise, Carson, and Madden (5) If not Madden, then McKissic.
WR: Baldwin, Richardson, Lockett, Williams, Kearse, and.........McEvoy. ( 6 )

Now, my question is McKissic. Depends on the Health of Lockett, they want a FB IMO.
If McKissic, then Kearse might be gone.

I'm heading to bed so I'll leave to JMR to explain it to you. He convinced me, its a cap issue and it makes sense once you look forward.

This could be a FO ploy to get Kearse to renegotiate. He has been available as far as I can recall. I assume Pete would like to keep him if things are inline.
I would be highly surprised if McKissic doesn't make the roster.

And who is backup QB? What if we get another replica of last week?

So what is your solution to the WR group then -- keep 7? Start Lockett on the PUP and be without him for the first 6 games? Give up on 1 of McEvoy, Williams & Darboh in order to keep Kearse?

Eh not sure, just voicing my thoughts. If they feel Darboh/Williams/McEvoy are legitimate to start, go for it I guess.

I'm not a huge Kearse fan. Lockett/Richardson/Baldwin made him look silly out there. Just 2 of those 3 seem to struggle with injuries. Clearly the coaches feel all 3 are good to go though and clearly think Williams/Darboh/McEvoy can fill in.

My point about bringing up the cap issue was that if the coaches are willing to trade him it's certainly not to save cap... so they must not be happy with how Kearse is doing in camp/offseason (at least compared to the other guys).

Yep, wasnt trying to pin you down. It's just that I think we have 7 WRs worthy of a roster spot. Keeping Kearse means someone else at the bottom of the depth chart has to go, and I don't think any of them would survive the PS.

Yeah, the trade may not give the same cap relief as a post-1 June cut, but maybe the FO values a draft pick as much as that bit of cap space. A choice between less cap relief but an additional pick or more cap relief and no additional pick.

I don't think the team is in some sort of cap crunch, but my take on these rumors of a Kearse trade is that they plan to cut him on Saturday so they're just trying to see if they can pull a draft pick out of nothing. If it was a matter of needing to free up that $, then they would have already cut him and got the $2.2M. I also think this means they have more than 6 WRs they really like and feel are worth a roster spot, and they know they cannot get away with putting McEvoy, Kasen Williams, or Darboh on the PS.

Lane and Collins being shopped as well, according to rumors. Lines up with positions that seem to be pretty log jammed. Somewhat surprised about Lane since Shead is still recovering and everyone else is new to the team, but Alex Collins has no chance to make the roster so you might as well try to pull some sort of value before you cut him.
