Keeping desean would've really made sense
Washington signs interior defender Stacy McGee to five-year deal
4:50 p.m. ET, Thurs., March 9
The Washington Redskins signed Stacy McGee to a five-year, $25 million contract. McGee has been a rotation body for the Raiders for the past four seasons, but 2016 was the first year he showed some impressive play, albeit for only 242 snaps. McGee had three sacks, eight total QB pressures, a batted pass and 14 defensive stops in those snaps, grading well as both a pass-rusher and run defender. The Redskins clearly thinks he can be a valuable member of their rotation, and will be hoping he has turned a corner in his play. — Sam Monson, @PFF_Sam
Sounds like he could be a late bloomer, but his production has been pretty bad for a 27 year old - and that was also the story on him at Oklahoma - where he had off-field issues. He hasn't done anything to earn that kind of money, but people do think he has some ability.
I know its early, but I've seen a few other sites start targeting possible FAs for the skins.
NT - Brandon Williams BAL
6'1" 340 27years old
Don't have all the numbers and stats but its been a while since we've had a TRUE NT, that isn't contemplating retirement. These DT's that are barely 300lbs aren't able to attract double teams.
LG - Ronald Leary DAL
6'3" 320 27 years old
Has history with Callahan's run schemes, Lauvao really never made sense.
Those are my main two right now, I'm hoping we hit on ILB and FS in the draft.
signing FA defensive backs has not gone well. Hopefully Cravens is moved to SS, don't think he'll survive
in the trenches at 220lbs.
If we can generate pressure on these 3rd and 10+ that we find ourselves in, Breeland should bounce back.
Norman has actually looked pretty BASED on what he's been asked to do.
I know you guys have some targets in mind....
Do you mind if I erase this message and start posting the free agents we have currently sign? So the first post will show all are offseason additions.
in the first 5 hours of FA we have
a long snapper, RB, 2 OT, a TE, a OLB & ILB, a safety, 2 DL ... tagged the QB
and scheduled a meeting with a WR
I'm excited they got him but disappointed that it's a 1 year deal. Wouldn't have been in both side's interest to make it a multi-year deal? Skins front office did good to get him, but when you can lock up a talented guy entering his prime, do it before he becomes unaffordable. Hmm, cough*Cousins*cough...

Yup. I'm surprised he didn't get any good long-term offers. Either I'm overrating him, or there are a lot of poor GM's out there.I am guessing he would want a much higher contract but teams were not biting. So he went one year at a nice bargain for us. He will look to cash in next season.
