Run support does tend to help the win column. Just sayin

You don't say?

I've known you for a long time, Cyder. Never took you for one to evaluate a pitcher based on his win column.

Hughes is a right handed fly ball pitcher. Not a good combo for Yankee Stadium. Minn's new park is a much better place for him.

No question about that, but if that's all that was at play in his numbers last year, you'd think he wouldn't be shitting the bed this year.

It's not in my top 4 or 5 stats but you had it didn't help in any way. The Mets offense helps the Mets hitters. They have the decency to only spend 5 minutes hitting so their pitchers arm doesn't stiffen up

I dare you to look up how many home games the 98 bulls lost
why?

its moot, like how many GS lost.

means nothing come the playoffs, let alone finals.

A better park for him doesn't completely erase his suckitude, it just helps hide it a bit

I still say they don't help the pitcher in anyway. I'd agree that they help the team, but if a pitcher lays a hot, steamy shit on the pitching rubber, giving up 7 runs in 2.2 innings, but his offense bails him out, that pitcher still has a shitty box score.

True. I just looked up Hughes' states. He's giving up the long ball again. 12 HR's in 69 innings compared to 16 last year in 209. strike out to walk ratio is almost half of last year which is strange because he still isn't walking very many at all. I haven't watched him much but people aren't missing like they did last year and are putting the ball in the seats. I wonder if his velocity is down?

It sure seems like a fluke at this point, but he had a really good season last year - not just hidden suckitude. There were only 7 AL pitchers with more innings and a lower ERA. That's a valuable pitcher right there.

Some guys have a good year and don't repeat it. Ian Kennedy was a Cy Young 2nd or 3rd a couple of years ago and hasn't matched that performance since. Sometimes bad pitchers have good years and some guys are up and down year to year. It remains to be seen if he's a valuable pitcher going forward. Right now he has a 5 ERA in one of the best pitchers parks in the league

The Brewers have only won 3 series so far and two of them were against first place teams on the road

What kind of sorcery is this?!?!?

Oh, fuck no, I'm not saying that Phil Hughes is valuable.

I'm saying that a pitcher that pitches as many innings with as low of an ERA that Hughes did last year is very valuable. Maybe top 15 in the AL last year.
