Amazing and just a few thoughts from our losses this season.

This 3-6 Record and after to follow the worst season for a Super Bowl winner ever, began rumors of the Rams purposely losing out to get a top pick in the 2024 draft to maximize their first 1st round pick in years start to swirl with the top heavy QB draft projected and to maximize the QB position pending all the mounting Stafford injuries and speculations of Matt's retirement.

All diehard Rams fans did not give these rumors any energy. They knew the Rams had top tier talent to compete for a playoff spot, possibly for the Division, just lacked any real depth for the 'next man up' mantra.

Of our losses...

Week 2 vs San Francisco L 30-23. We all saw their 5th round Rookie RB Kyren Williams in his first NFL start, tip a catchable ball for one of two late turnovers in this early contest. That interception led to the 49ers go-ahead FG late in the 4th quarter. Even though the Rams lost by a single score (7 points), we also saw another Rams' 5th round Rookie WR in Puka Nacua set the single game record for receptions in a single game by a rookie (16) and 157 yards!
Record 1-1

Week 3 @ Cincinnati L 19-16.
In another loss by a single score (3 points) the Rams' faithful saw their Rams travel to face the Bengals and the nearly immobile Joe Burrow (Calf injury) go untouched all game by the young Rams Defense. Even though this young defense failed to cover JaMarr Chase all game (12 catches for 141 yards), they didn't allow a single touchdown pass. The defense wasn't the problem here, the Rams faithful saw the Rams offense fail to protect Stafford, go 0-10 on third down attempts, give up 2 sacks and 2 interceptions. We all could see the lack of depth take its toll on offense, and even though the Rams only lost by 3, it was a touchdown with less than a minute to play that made it close.
Record 1-2

Week 5 vs Philadelphia L 23-14.
In Week 5 Rams fans came to Inglewood to see the 5-0 Eagles, who really weren't pushing any team around at this point of the season but were certainly experts pushing Jalen! The Rams fans saw Cooper Kupp return from injury missing the first 4 games of the season and see Cooper get the Rams deep into Eagles territory leading to a go-ahead score of 14-10 with just 34 seconds left to play. But that lead was short lived as the Eagles score on the final drive of the 1st half via the Push Tush scoring from 1 yard out in those 34 seconds. The Rams offense again is the culprit, allowing 4 sacks and failing to score a single point in the second half.
Record 2-3

Week 7 vs Pittsburgh L 24-17.
Rams' fans suffer another 1 score loss at home by the offense-less Steelers in Week 7, well at least for 3 quarters it looked like the Rams' faithful would finally get to enjoy seeing in person a 2-game winning streak. Then in the fourth quarter, the Steelers offense comes alive scoring 14 points while the Rams offense failed to score again.
Record 3-4

Week 8 vs @ Dallas L 42-20.
In the worst loss of the season to date, the wheels fall off the cart and Rams' fans find their horned heroes in their second losing streak of the season. The Cowboys dominate at home and score in all three phases of the game as the Rams gave up offensive and defensive touchdowns & a blocked punt that scored a safety.
Record 3-5

Week 9 vs @ Green Bay L 20-3.
Rams' fans had hoped of righting the ship as the 2-5 Packers, who failed to score a single touchdown since mid-September, hosted our LA team in early November. But hope would have to wait another 2 weeks as the bye week was not only calling their names, it was also begging them for a break. The Pack got the Monkey off their collective backs scoring on a 3-yard run early in the 2nd quarter, and that would be all they needed in this one as Rams' fans learned what life was like without Matthew Stafford who sat out this game from a thumb injury in the Dallas game.
Record 3-6

Week 10 The Bye Week.
Ram fans are happy because they know they will not drop to 3-7 in Week 10. A week to heal, reflect and figure out what the hell is going on. So many close losses, so many terrible losses. The young defense, in the first 9 weeks, had done a solid job allowing just 22.67 ppg. It was the offense that had to pick up the slack as all Rams' fans knew the Special teams were far from special. At this point there were many who threw in the towel, started looking forward to the off season, the combine, free agency and eyeballing some of the talent coming over in the 2024 draft, but for the faithful, we knew they had more than a mathematical chance. We saw a healthy Williams, Puca, Matt & Kupp excel just not together on the field at the same time. This week of healing was just what the faithful Rams fans knew they needed, to have a Puncher's chance at savaging the season. Spoiler Alert!
Record 3-6

Week 14 @ Baltimore L 37-31 / OT.
Rams' fans who hung in there, regrouped after the Bye Week and finally got to see a win streak over 2-games! With that however, we all knew heading to Baltimore to face the Ravens was a tall order for any team, but especially such a young team learning as the season rolled on. If only the Rams were able to turn all three phases around, but the holes in the third phase were glaring and led to massive failures both in-game and in overtime in this one. A game which could have been the signature win of the season and firmly placing the once 3-6 Rams in a prominent place in the playoff picture was not to be. The 7-6 record & a 4-game winning streak was not to be even though this was the first time the 9-3 Ravens trailed after 3 quarters all season! The Rams fail in the 4 quarter to convert a 2-point try to go up by 7, so with a little over 4 1/2 minutes to play Jackson takes control with just over 3 minutes to go, and up by 1 with the PAT pending. The Ravens convert their 2-point conversion, so with a 3-point lead, the Rams and just a little time left, move the ball down into the redzone but end up mismanaging the clock in the end and settle for the improbable short 37 yard field goal. They nail the FG & tie it up and push the game to Overtime. It's anyone's game and for the 7.5 underdog Rams those two series of missed and made 2-point conversions would haunt them in the end. The Rams get the ball first, fail to do anything on offense, and punt it away. Wouldn't you know it, they give up a 76-yard punt return TD & lose the game in dramatic fashion.
Record 6-7

Week 17 vs @ New York W 26-25.
This Rams' fan is happy to report this entry as a win, it looked like another heartbreak game. Special teams being what they are, found the Rams lined up to punt the ball away with just under 4 minutes to play, and a 26-19 lead. The punt is fielded at the Giants 6 and the returner looks to be wrapped up around the 30 but breaks away and scores a 94-yard touchdown! The Giants go for the win at home and the 2-point conversion, but the pass is behind Barkley and the Rams dodge the bullet for the moment anyway. The Rams get the ball back and with under 3 and a half minutes to play and a slim 1-point lead, go three and out, just as they did in OT in Baltimore the week prior, and punt the ball away with just over a minute to play. The Giants field the punt with a fair catch & move quicky into field goal range before getting stopped leaving a 54 yard attempt to win the game, but this time, (And finally) the Rams have fortune on their side as they escape for the win and head back to LA.
Record 9-7

Week 17 Post Game News.
The Los Angeles Rams, winners of their last 6 of 7, with the lone loss on the road to the AFC's No. 1 Seed in OT, get the late Christmas gift from Pittsburgh as the Steelers beat the Seahawks finalizing the Rams best case scenario for making the playoffs this week or next. Sure they have improved, but as successful as the Rams have been in their last 7 games the flaws were glaring!

Week 18. A game of backups? With both teams, health could be the biggest win in Week 18, likely not much changes with a win or loss by either team.

Stafford (took 2 of those 1st rounders): pro bowl
Kyren Williams: 5th rounder in 2022: pro bowl
Puka Nacua: 5th rounder in 2023: pro bowl

However, a healthy Ramsey and/or Leonard Floyd (and even Bobby Wagner) would have this team that much scarier in the playoffs and would cover much of their current issues. Hopefully they put the resulting draft capital to good use in April.

Gotta say boys, Red, it sure looked bleak sitting at 3-6 on the 18th!

One of the most shocking aspects to me is even at 3-6, the Rams still pulled off the playoff spot clinch before Week 18!
