According to your logic, no team can ever build up a program and keep that program up for long?

Sure teams can, but if history teaches anything it is that Cal is one of those teams.

In the six years span, 1998-2003, Cal was 28-42 and unranked all six years.
In the three years span, 2004-2006, Cal was 28-9 and ranked 3 times
In the six years span, 2007-2012, Cal was 39-37 and unranked all six years.

So you are saying do not sign with teams during an up swing becuase none will maintain that. Was FL always on top?

Thankfully for tOSU the playoffs start next season because I think they will be even better. Maybe even significantly better which is scary when that statement is made about a team that could win 25 or 26 straight games.

THe double edge sword here is even though they will be better, can a team in CFB possibly go 3 straight years unbeaten? I mean, a slip up is only to be expected eventually.

THey do have a couple tough games to continue the winning streak... MSU and potentially Oregon in the RB.

If tOSU goes unbeaten in their conference for 3 straight years, the B1G straight up fucking sucks.

Ya it is just so simple to schedule Texas and USC for 2 home n homes in a decade....:L

Scheduling games isnt as easy as you think.

Fuck an A spot on Mamba. I've always thought it was hilarious how MESSAGE BOARD posters seem to think all AD's have to do is pick up the phone and schedule a home and home and that's it........

tOSU is a good team no doubt, nowhere near being great. In today's era, it is too tough to go unbeaten 3 straight years. Not even Bama can do that and they are a thousand times better than tOSU. Even when Texas and OU were at their peak, they couldn't go unbeaten 3 years in a row in the Big 12. If tOSU goes unbeaten 3 years in a row, the B1G flat out blows.

That means they would have to win what 38 in a row, I don't care who you play 38 is 38.

Oklahoma had to go what 3 or 4 seasons undefeated when they had the longest winning streak ever??

That was back in the 50's when there was ZERO parity in CFB. Put it another way, if BSU was rolling off 38 wins in a row in their weak as shit conference, you would not be impressed.

I hate to say it but I I don't think the Badgers played that well @ tOSU. Lots of miscues. New system. Etc etc. But mainly, I don't think tOSU played as well as they should have. If we were one of their better wins, I just don't think it's enough. They need to win very convincingly against that MSU defense, and I think they might struggle. Sorry Buckeyes, I just don't think you're thrre yet.

When it comes to scheduling, Ohio State and Alabama are completing for the biggest pussy award lately.

You just defeated your entire argument, if there is more parity today then winning 39 in a row would be more impressive.

One of those wins will have been in the Rose Bowl, or will that be ignored?

And yet, Oregon and FSU are both worse.

Personally, I think it's because of how TCU and Boise St were rewarded in recent years for incredibly crappy schedules. It's become apparent that going undefeated is the most important thing. You can still make it in with 1 loss, as Alabama has the past 2 years, but only when everyone else loses. If Oklahoma St had won out in 2011, they would have went. If Oregon or K-State had won out last year, they would have went.

And regardless of how much people complain about it, the fact is those same people think it should be that way as they rarely take SoS into account for themselves, as our own forum poll shows. When someone did a poll based on actual achievements, people went nuts about it.

What I was saying was it was easier for OU to go undefeated 3 years in a row b/c they had zero parity in the Big 8, similar to what the B1G is today. I saw a stat the other day that said since 2000, the Big 10 champ/co champ is 5-13 in their bowl games. Seriously?

Damn, I hate that. If only a team with a higher SOS would have won one more game than Bama, they would have gone to the NC game. I have accepted Bama starts out with a 1 game advantage. Lets just accept it, but no need to try and legitimize it.

That seems about right. Thats the biggest problem for the B10 IMO, its not the OOC games its the bowl season. To be frank the B10 needs better tie ins because in about 75% of their bowls over the last 15 years B10 teams have been playing "up". ie their 6th place team playing another leagues 4th place team, their 5th place teams playing another leagues 3rd place team etc and when the B10 almost always gets 2 BCS bids ( even in years they dont deserve it like Illinois to the Rose in 07) it makes those games even tougher because it bumps everyone up a spot and you end up with 6-6 Iowa playing 9-3 Texas or 7-5 Iowa playing 10-2 Missouri/Oklahoma. Add to that that the B10's major bowl tie in ( the new years day games) are almost all with the SEC which is without question the best confernce and it makes having a good bowl season tough. In any event the league needs to start winning games even if they arent favored in them.

I already said I don't care, anyone can slip up at anytime. Especially when you have to play a bowl game against a legit team (tOSU didn't have to year 1, but this year will).

I think it is more of a 1/2 game lead for the entire SEC, not just Bama. If you equal any SEC team in wins, then they will go because it's such a tough conference, but lets ignore the fact that a team played 4 FBS teams the entire season that had a winning record, lost one of them, and one was the 5th place team in one of the worst years ever for the Big10.

2000 Outback South Carolina L
2001 Outback South Carolina L
2002 BCS NCG the U WIN
2003 BCS Fiesta Kansas State Win
2004 Alamo OK State Win
2005 BCS Fiesta Notre Dame Win
2006 BCS NCG Florida ass raped
2007 BCS NCG LSU Loss
2008 BCS Fiesta Texas Loss (so wanted boom to take a knee at the 1 yd line, all Buckeyes needed was a FG, but hey lets give Colt another shot to win and play just marvelous pass defense)
2009 BCS Rose Oregon WIN
2010 BCS Sugar Arkansas Win
2011 Gator Florida Loss

Buckeyes are 6-6 which isn't all that bad considering who they played, the back to back BCS wins were huge to end the catastrophic streak they was on.
