Good for him and good for you. You were right. I was wrong.

I think it's a mistake for the Buccaneers.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield have agreed to three-year, $100 million contract.
According to Rapoport, Mayfield’s deal includes $50 million in guaranteed money, and he can earn as much as $115 million over the next three years. The former No. 1 overall pick joined the Buccaneers on a one-year prove-it deal last offseason and wound up throwing for 4,044-28-10 while leading the Bucs to a 9-8 record and a postseason berth. In the NFC Wild Card game against the Eagles, Mayfield threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns to down the Eagles and went for another 349-3-2 in the divisional round loss to the Lions. With Mayfield and Mike Evans now back in the mix, the Bucs will look to add to their roster and defend their NFC South title for the third-consecutive season.

If it does not work out the Bucs can move on after 2 seasons and just 50 mill is guaranteed. 25 mill per is not a lot.

Smart deal by the Bucs.

Is Mayfield what Manziel should have been? Or am I being too general with the personality reputation? Like could Manziel have done what Mayfield did with an adjustment?

What did he end up getting? I guess the playoff win got him a bigger contract?

I was guessing a 3 year contract in the $85 million range, what did it end up being?

I guess I got the 3 year part correct, and wasn’t too far off the $100 million. I didn’t think he would get a long term deal.

McVay helped get Baker his money, good for Baker. Cleveland sports radio is a fun listen, because they still have a lot of Baker backers in Browns fans.

When looking at this contract closer, really it's only a 2 year $50 million guarantee. $30 million is paid in year 1, so if Baker does fade, it appears that the Bucs can easily get out of it without much of a financial hit.

I don't think so. Mayfield had the cocky, arrogant air about him but he always worked hard and played the game hard and seemed more of a professional. Manziel just wanted to party and didn't give a shit, it seemed. I doubt anything could have straightened out Johnny before it was too late.
