cross waller off the list

Giants acquired TE Darren Waller from the Raiders in exchange for the 100th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

After laying low on the first day of free agency, the Giant came through with a splash on Day 2 when they acquired Waller from the Raiders in exchange for the 100th overall pick, which was acquired from the Chiefs in the Kadarius Toney trade. Waller burst on the scene with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2019 and 2020 but has totaled just 83-1053-5 in 20 games over the last two seasons. Waller is one of the best receiving tight ends in the league when healthy, but staying on the field has proved challenging for the soon-to-be 31-year-old tight end. Still, Waller would have been the best pass-catching option on the Giants last season and is an immediate upgrade for the offense.

Meanwhile the Dolphins double down on their 'we dont' need no stinking real Rb's on our team" philosophy by re-signing both Mostert and Wilson. Sure it'll get 'em by, but what has that gotten them recently? At least they didn't triple down and bring back Chase Edmonds (yet)

Jets signed WR Allen Lazard, formerly of the Packers, to a four-year, $44 million contract.

Probably draft an RB at pick 51 or 84. I agree that they probably need another guy for a team going all-in

I'm seeing these blurbs on NBC that report that Aaron Rodgers wants to bring Cobb with. Saw another that he wants the Jets to get Mercedes Lewis...

Sure is a lot of demands for a deal that may not have gone thru yet.
And sounds like they are getting Lazard. Who as a #1 got all of 788 yards and 6 TD's. Overpay!

I thought they'd do that even after the ridiculous Chase Edmunds signing last year.
I agree they should, I have zero faith they will

Jets signed WR Allen Lazard, formerly of the Packers, to a four-year, $44 million contract.

Lazard was one of four players on the list of demands Aaron Rodgers reportedly gave the Jets. A former undrafted rookie free agent who landed on the Packers' practice squad in late 2018, Lazard has turned into one of Rodgers' favorite teammates over the last several seasons. He caught a career-high 60 passes for 788 yards in 2022 and saw the seventh-most deep targets (28) of any receiver in the league. Lazard landing in New York likely spells the end for Corey Davis, although it's hard to imagine him being any higher than the third option in the Jets' receiving game, regardless of who their quarterback is. Lazard's deal with the Jets includes $22 million in guaranteed money.

Broncos signed Samaje Perine, formerly of the Bengals, to a two-year contract worth $7.5 million.

Perine will presumably be a big part of Denver's backfield next year, though how much of the rotation he gets to see probably depends on Javonte Williams' health and who else the team adds in free agency. At the worst, it's likely that this contract will keep him as the team's main third-down back. It's a role he's produced in for the Bengals and that should continue in Denver. There have been some pretty rough reports for Williams' health so far and we should not discount the possibility that Perine gets a bigger role just yet.

Panthers signed QB Andy Dalton, formerly of the Saints, to a two-year, $10 million contract.

The deal includes $8 million "fully guaranteed" and apparently includes another $7 million in incentives. Although Dalton will ultimately end up the clipboard holder for whomever the Panthers take at No. 1 overall, he could end up the "bridge" starter if the top selection is a raw prospect like Florida's Anthony Richardson. For now, it appears the Panthers are eyeing up Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, who would have an easier time easily dispatching Dalton. The computers liked Dalton in 2022, but his already modest deep game has disappeared. He failed as a bridge man for the 2021 Bears. The Panthers need to avoid 2023 Dalton starts at all costs unless it is to protect an unprepared rookie.
