biggest ? is why

he has been useless

Falcons acquired TE Jonnu Smith from the Patriots.

We're just two years removed from the Patriots signing Smith to a four-year, $50 million contract after his five-year stint with the Titans. During his entire tenure with the Titans, Smith worked under Falcons head coach Arthur Smith, who was the Titans' tight ends coach and offensive coordinator from 2016-2020. One of the more athletic tight ends in the league, the hope was Smith would finally have a chance to break out under Bill Belichick, but he was quickly phased out when the team signed Hunter Henry in the same free agency cycle. Despite the trade, it's hard to imagine Smith having much fantasy upside with Kyle Pitts still in the way.

The Bears sign Edmunds to a big deal but they trade Roquan? Trying to make sense of it. Both are damn good but I thought Roquan was like elite of elite

Roquon brought a darn nice return, and they weren't going anywhere with him. Maybe they're trying to make a run now, thinking they've got something with Fields and the run game, rebuild that D

My personal take on Roquon was that, while he did check all of the boxes as far as talent, etc., my gut says his character did not mesh with the new regime.

Going off memory here, but Roquon was fairly public about salary, compensation, management decisions and the like. (Like when they got rid of Robert Quinn.) My gut says Poles & company viewed him as a potential problem/distraction.

Raiders signed WR Jakobi Meyers, formerly of the Patriots, to a three-year contract worth $33 million.

Meyers, one of the top receivers in free agency, will get $21 million guaranteed. Meyers’ 2022 campaign wasn’t dramatically different than the previous two seasons. He had a similar average depth of target, yards per route run, and yards per catch. In the context of the miserable 2022 New England offense, Meyers’ production (67 catches for 803 yards and six touchdowns) was impressive. In Vegas, he'll function as the clearcut No. 2 receiver behind target hog Davante Adams. Meyers will likely see ample usage in the slot as a Raider. He could suffice as a decent WR3 for fantasy purposes in 2023.

no more excuses for jimmy g:suds:

The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports the Dolphins are "monitoring" Dalvin Cook's potential availability.

The all-in Dolphins are among the teams keeping tabs on whether the Vikings are willing to part with Cook, who has three years left on his contract and is due to make $10.4 million in 2023. ESPN last week reported multiple NFL teams have engaged in trade talks for Cook. Minnesota reportedly wants to re-sign Alexander Mattison, who would be the presumed starter if Cook is dealt in the coming days or weeks. Cook in 2022 recorded his lowest yards per carry of his six-year career.

so when do they trade Tua?:suds:

The excuse will be that at some point in the first 4-5 weeks, he gets hurt and misses 6-8 weeks, or longer.

But, yes, between Adams, Waller, Renfrow, Jacobs, and now Myers, probably the best set of weapons he's ever had.

Side note- this blurb author apparently forgot Renfrow is one of the best slot WR's in the league, and is less than adequate on the outside- Myers is not seeing ample usage in the slot unless Renfrow misses time

I'm seeing these blurbs on NBC that report that Aaron Rodgers wants to bring Cobb with. Saw another that he wants the Jets to get Mercedes Lewis...

Sure is a lot of demands for a deal that may not have gone thru yet.

the dude is a DIVA with all capital letters. I mean he goes to the Jets, and throws one TD to either WIlson or Davis, it'll be only his second TD ever to a 1st round draft pick..his first coming just last year on the toss to Lewis..and he's got two to choose from! between those two dudes, hall/Carter, COnklin/Uzomah..fml, its already a better collection than what he's typically had to work with in GB.

Apparently you can add OBJ to his list of 'demands'. cheese n rice this friggin guy.

The past couple years he was mildly annoying, nearing the point of 'how about you just F off already?"

he's past that point now.

cross waller off the list

Giants acquired TE Darren Waller from the Raiders in exchange for the 100th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

After laying low on the first day of free agency, the Giant came through with a splash on Day 2 when they acquired Waller from the Raiders in exchange for the 100th overall pick, which was acquired from the Chiefs in the Kadarius Toney trade. Waller burst on the scene with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2019 and 2020 but has totaled just 83-1053-5 in 20 games over the last two seasons. Waller is one of the best receiving tight ends in the league when healthy, but staying on the field has proved challenging for the soon-to-be 31-year-old tight end. Still, Waller would have been the best pass-catching option on the Giants last season and is an immediate upgrade for the offense.
