Surprised that he left Chicago tbh.
I kinda saw it coming. About a month back Field Yates said the Bears might stick with Herbert. Yates is friends with Poles.
That does seem to be how this is playing out. Sometimes ya never know.

Herbert is definitely dangerous. Dude is a threat whenever he has the ball.

He’s small and hasn’t really been a factor with passing targets though.

The Homer signing surprised me.

So who leads the Lions backfield? Swift or Monty? And unlike Swift v Williams, where each had different obvious pluses and minuses, aren't most of these 2 dudes' pluses and minuses about the same?

I assume Monty gets the bulk of the carries.

He’s about the same exact size as Williams. But should be more of an option in the flat for Goff than JW was.

Bears signed Travis Homer, formerly of the Seahawks, to a two-year contract with a maximum value of $4.5 million.

Homer profiles as the Bears third-down back, as he has nearly as many targets (61) as rushes (83) in his four-year Seahawks career. This is bigger news for Khalil Herbert's chances of being a featured back next season, as Homer is not an especially strong back that simply has to get carries and split the workload. The timing of this signing suggests Homer will hold some real part in Chicago's plans next season.

Lions signed David Montgomery, formerly of the Bears, to a three-year, $18 million contract, with $11 million in guarantees.

So much for all the talk that Jamaal Williams would return to Detroit, and it's pretty rare to see a running back find $11 million in guarantees on the open market. It's a good fit for the Lions as Montgomery can handle much the same role that Williams did as the between-the-tackles bruiser with red zone upside. He'll also get multiple revenge games per season against the Bears. This probably keeps him in the fantasy RB2 conversation pending whatever our beliefs become about D'Andre Swift's role in 2023. The Lions' rushing offense was spectacular at times in 2022 and Montgomery should be able to take full advantage of Ben Johnson's work.

If all this isnt a red flag to the Jets....
Who's calling it "demands?" The vaccinated media? He probably told the Jets to try to get as many of these guys as they can. The Jets have a talented personnel guy leading their organization. Joe Douglas has built them up in the last few years, but they need the QB.

Meanwhile the Dolphins double down on their 'we dont' need no stinking real Rb's on our team" philosophy by re-signing both Mostert and Wilson. Sure it'll get 'em by, but what has that gotten them recently? At least they didn't triple down and bring back Chase Edmonds (yet)
They could get him now for much cheaper. Wouldn't be as dumb as the first time. Lol

The computers liked Dalton in 2022, but his already modest deep game has disappeared. He failed as a bridge man for the 2021 Bears. The Panthers need to avoid 2023 Dalton starts at all costs unless it is to protect an unprepared rookie.
Who write's these? Lol

Rotoworld feed, but I can't find a name

adam schefter
The headlines generally contain a statement/quote/whatever from a source...everything in bold usually.

It's the 'analysis' blurb at the bottom which is generally some anonymous putz who steals at least half their ideas from this very message board..the other half is generally pure idiocy..like Fields being a boon for DJ Moore, or Meyers getting ample usage in the slot in Vegas

Similar size sure, but I don't know about styles. Williams brings the wood on his carries, never really known Monty to be guy delivering the hit to get that extra yard.
I just don't see him as a 'hammer' type guy like Williams could be, and just imho, that was what made him a good play off of Swift.

But depending on what else they do, he could be enough of one?
I'm on the fence on this move

I have no doubt that the media elaborates and exaggerates some of the details. Lazard did agree to terms with the Jets. So in a sense his "demands" appear to have some credibility.

Rodgers is an odd fellow. And he has NOT agreed to the Jets terms yet. (And now the Patriots are reportedly calling him?)

I could see him doing something like this.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Packers could be requesting "multiple" first round draft picks from the Jets in exchange for Aaron Rodgers.

Panthers are expected to sign TE Hayden Hurst, formerly of the Bengals, to a three-year contract.

In Hurst's lone season with the Bengals, he caught 52 passes for 414 yards and two touchdowns while being among the league leaders in tight end pass routes. The always-inefficient Hurst, entering his age-30 seasons, would immediately start for the Panthers as the team's primary pass-catching tight end, dashing the hopes of every remaining Tommy Tremble truther. Hurst is well positioned to be a frustrating streaming option for fantasy managers in 2023.

Bills signed WR Deonte Harty, formerly of the Saints, to a two-year contract.

The deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, is worth up to $13.5 million, with $5 million guaranteed. The blazing fast Harty, who missed much of the 2022 season with a toe injury, shapes up as a much-needed downfield specialist for Josh Allen. Harty could also function as Buffalo's primary kick returner. In 2021, Harty caught 36 passes for 570 yards and three touchdowns with a 10.6 average depth of target. Nearly 20 percent of his targets that season were over 20 yards downfield.

Russell Wilson was never as good as Rodgers and, despite being 5 years younger, has about the same shelf life.

I always thought it should be a 1st and a 2nd that could become a 1st if certain conditions are met (playing time, playoff start, mvp, etc).

Maybe 13 is enough value as is, but they could trade future firsts. Packers might want that 2026 1st, thinking Rodgers only has a year or two in him.
