In a QB driven era, Chad Pennington is clearly the 2nd best QB the AFC East has seen since 2001, and Cleo Lemon is in the conversation for who is 3rd best

I would put Mark Sanchez in at 2nd ONLY because he actually took the Jets to 2 AFC title games. Then Pennington, then it's anyone after that honestly lol

What you say is in play. Dolphins could be underdogs in almost every game they dont play the Bills or Jets but trying to figure out who the good teams are next year might be foolish outside of a team like the Pats.
People play up the parity aspect more than is real. The same teams have been good for awhile and the teams that make a leap every year usually do so with some warning from the year before. There are exceptions but generally speaking the prior years results do translate ( I'd say 80% of the time ). A look at 2015 shows that most of the new playoff teams in 16 were trending up and many of them lost a high amount of close games in 15. That's why I really like Tennessee and Philly this year.

Just picture this statistic. Mark Sanchez is tied for 2nd amongst active QBs in playoff winning percentage. He's 4-2, tied with a .667 winning percentage. Tied with Eli Manning, Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco. :L

Well, there are also teams like the Cowboys and Giants last year that end up bouncing back for a variety of reasons. Miami also made the playoffs last year so by that logic I'm sure someone could argue that they are trending upwards. I won't but there is some talent on that team.

I do think there is probably a better bet that the AFC West and AFC North has 2 good teams that get through their schedule than Miami being good and getting through their schedule but Buffalo and certainly the Jets are certainly helping them out.

Miami has the misfortune of having a QB injury combined with a tough schedule on top on vastly overachieving last year ( 7-2 in one score games ). Even without the Tannehill injury I saw them as a 7-8 win team. Generally speaking teams will regress to the mean in one score games unless they've got an elite QB

I remember Bill Barnwell saying that about the Niners with Alex Smith and the Niners proved him wrong a couple of times.

The one score thing is a good rule of thumb but I think its just part of the equation. The Panthers last year looked like a borderline lock to make the playoffs at the start of the season but then the cracks in the armor started showing.

Word is they are thinking Brock Osweiler will be their starting QB. If so, I have that as the worst starting QB in the NFL

The Browns will be better but in most years you need to win 6 or 7 games in irder to not be bottom four in the conference. Browns won one game last year . Even a huge improvement is not likely to get to 6 or 7 wins

Meaningless stat of the week:

The two worst seasons in Houston Texans history (2005 and 2013), they went 2-14.

Both seasons they had to play the NFC West.

This season, they have to play the NFC West.

I'm having almost instant regret on picking the Texans but I just have this feeling that the offense might quit on the team if their QB play is bad for yet another season.
Think Texans take that division. No telling when Luck will be back (I picked Indy bottom 4), Jags = Jags, should be between the Titans and HOU. If Watt is healthy, their D just gets better than top unit last year.

QB will be musical chairs with Savage and Watson. Latter looked ok in the preseason game with the Panthers, jury's out on whether he can transition his game to the league. I'm also not sure what kind of impact wideout they've got past Nuke Hopkins.

Yeah, I switched my pick to Indy but you have to figure the Texans have to be getting frustrated with their qb spot. They have weapons

I don't agree with that at all.

Maybe, but I feel they are more capable then most

Jets, Bills, jags and Dolphins.

The first two are easy. Jags are pretty solid pick as well despite getting Tom Coughlin. I went with the Dolphins over the Browns. It's not based on anything beyond I just don't wanna believe the Browns won't improve with all the pieces they added on defense.
