Lions signed CB D.J. Hayden, formerly of the Raiders, to a one-year contract.

The 12th overall pick of the 2013 draft, Hayden was one of many first-round busts that year. Many experts had Hayden pegged as the best corner in that draft, but he's had a far worse start to his career than the three corners -- Desmond Trufant, Xavier Rhodes, Darius Slay -- drafted directly after him. Hayden couldn't cut it on the outside in Oakland, so the Raiders tried him in the slot. He was somewhat serviceable there, but no better than league average. Maybe DC Teryl Austin can get more out of Hayden. He's still just 27 (in June). It's not a bad flier.

I agree. Definitely worth a shot on a prove it deal.

Wow on signing Hayden. That's a Pat like move for sure.

See if your favorite DC can utilize him.

It's a Pat like move, but now it's up to the timeout whisperer to make something of it. He ain't no BB.

On the bright side, TEN signed Logan Ryan which means they pretty much will not have the money to sign Hightower now. Hightower either comes here or resigns with the Pats as expected. A win either way for me.

I'm not sure we have the money for Hightower.

Thats my prediction as well, but we need another veteran LB in FA unless they plan on resigning Levy. John Simon already got signed too so its getting thin quickly.

You boy Reddick was just mocked #9 overall in CBS sports latest mock. Might not even have a shot at him.

That happens every year. I do a draft early based on their projected draft rounds at the time and then they all go 1 or 2 rounds earlier. I should just remove my number 1 pick and slide everyone up 1 because that ends up becoming the reality of it by draft day.

All guaranteed money, and a $500 bonus, per interception.

Thats all? He might as well just keep the ball. That is probably worth more than $500.

Warford got crazy money 4yrs 34 million and half guaranteed. Vikes signed RT Mike Remmers, so Rieff is surely the LT now.

Ya, that's crazy money for Warford. Vikings threw big money at Reemers, too. It will be fun playing vs Reiff twice a year.

Hopefully Ziggy learned his tendencies, facing off on him in practice all the time.

That's a lot of coin for Reilly Reiff.

Sacks given up over the last 4 years:

Reiff - 18.5
Wagner - 7

Dafuq.

I guess that is decent money if he is going to be playing LT.
He reminded me a lot of Sackus. Decent half the time, get owned the other half.

He was great in Linehans scheme and was still decent after we switched to the zone scheme and was good again last season at RT. He's reliable and can adapt that is worth paying for imo.

I'm not sure we have the money for Hightower.

Hightower is great, but Austin hasn't blitzed a linebacker yet. I think Austin believe's it would be an "illegal man upfield" if a linebacker got into the offensive backfield. Hightower is a run defender and pass rusher, so half of his talent would be wasted here. They could moved him to DE, but a position change is risky.
