can't agree with that. it will depend on a number of factors outside nd's control. plus i agree with the earlier comment that nd can't play down to the competition as it has so far, even if we do end up 12-1.

I agree, we need either the Big Ten champ or Oregon to lose another game, or even FSU to lose, because I think knocking FSU out gives us a better shot than having a "quality" loss to them.

Big 10 champ won't make it. MSU is the only one with a chance and I can't see them getting over us especially that we lost to the Champs and MSU lost to Oregon by a good amount and OSU lost to unranked VTech. Plus throw in the chances that both will have 2Ls. Oregon is the wild card here. Pac 12 North is really weak this year so that will hurt Oregon plus they lost to Arizona.

Again this is my opinion. I think we are in very good position. Another wildcard here is we need FSU to go 13-0. IF FSU loses we would need them to lose 2 games so we can jump them.

I will never change my opinion that the SEC always get a free pass when they lose a conference game and there is favoritism in the polls towards SEC schools. The fact that Georgia is in front of TCU & K-State in both polls just show their bias. There is not one single reason why Georgia deserves to be ranked ahead of any of those schools.

Well, it turns out that the data does not support "your opinion". In fact, when a SEC team loses - they drop the most of all conferences, tied with the Pac12. And it's the Big12, not the SEC that jumps the most when they win a conference game, although the SEC comes in 2nd, midway between the Big12 and the Pac12.

http://www.sportshoopla.com/forums/alabama-crimson-tide/168290-sec-bias-myth-debunked.html

Sorry, but the data just doesn't back your opinion at all. And that SEC winning stat includes 2 teams moving to the top3 in the Mississippi teams.

As usual, you are just wrong when it comes to college football Mr 0-2.

however, I don't think it is possible for a SEC team to be out of the playoffs even if all the top ones have 2 losses.

no matter how you cut it they need help. there are 6/7 teams ahead of them meaning they have to jump 3/4 teams. even going 12-1 won't change that.

It can happen. The "SEC" is just a name, it's the quality of the teams in the conference that makes it what it is today. Regardless of what some tinfoil hat wearing people think.

If the quality of the teams drops considerable to the point where they all have 2 losses, that could easily knock the SEC out. But most importantly, that would be dealing with where the losses come from.

For example, Auburn. Let's say Auburn loses to Georgia, a rival game that happens every year a few weeks before they play Alabama. Then Georgia goes and loses to Georgia Tech, their final game of the year. That gives Auburn 2 losses. If Auburn then goes and beats an Alabama team in the Iron Bowl, giving them 2 losses as well. I think it effectively knocks all 3 of these teams out of the running.

Then you have the Ole Miss and Miss St teams. Ole Miss loses to LSU this weekend, Miss St loses to Alabama. Gives them 1 loss each. Now if Miss St beats Ole Miss in the egg Bowl, Ole Miss is now out of it. Miss St will have the weakest claim of all the SEC West teams, because they have an OOC schedule that is only fit for bottom feeders. A 1 loss Miss St might not even make it in. But, Miss St also has to play Alabama still, which in the above scenario would leave them with 2 losses.

So all the SEC West teams will have 2 losses. At best, which ever is decided for the SEC championship game goes and wins may have a slight chance of making it. But again, that's going to depend on the team. Alabama or Auburn - good chance. The Mississippi teams, not so great. And even then it's going to depend largely on what happens in the other conferences.

If Arkansas knocks a SECW team off, the chances would increase for being left out.

Of course, it's extremely unlikely this all happens.

I don't see how FSU can lose 2 games at this point. Even as much as I'm not a fan of you guys, I was pulling for you to win that game because I felt you still had chances to lose, but this was pretty much the lost real shot FSU had to lose.

Then why are you posting on the Notre Dame thread?

Because it's talking about a football topic I'm interested in and doesn't feature 20 trolls all competing for who can "rustle jimmies" like we're all in high school. And the mods for team boards aren't the trolls who get butthurt and ban happy when you call them out for it or dish it back.

I enjoy a more serious discussion, and just because I'm not a fan of a team doesn't mean I can't do that. :noidea:

FSU can lose next week. If they win that I expect them to go 13-0

12-1 does change that. U do know teams in front of us play each other so we would move up no matter what if we win out.

Think we have a shot to get in the playoff but we need some help. Maybe Miss losing to LSU, then beating Miss St with Bama losing again. Might take alot. Louisville beating FSU and a blow out by us against them would help. Think we are in decent shape as long as we take care of business.
