In an ideal world, year round football sounds great. But in reality, I like having something to look forward to come August/September.

So you support this because its more convenient for YOU. Forget the fans of the actual teams, the players, the NfL draft, lets change the entire system (which what you're suggesting would be impossible) so that its more convenient for some Appalachian hillbilly.

Not at all, not saying eliminate the other sports or your team ect. Go ahead and watch em. But let's be honest there is a reason they are called non revenue sports, college football is more popular and generates the money and CFB fans can't get enough of it. Use some of these other networks and channels to bring it to us. We WANT to love you non P5 conferences, play your games in the spring so we can.

Should play their seasons in the spring (yes or no) when a CFB fan will have time to pay attention to them.
With the new P5 breakaway and the major networks and conference networks bombarding us with their product (which is fine by me as a CFB fan) in the fall and games starting mid week and ending in the wee hours of Sunday morning, a fan simply does not have time to watch the product that these conferences have to offer.
It isn't what the P5 brings to the table, I think everyone realizes that but it is good college football with some very talented players and us fans cant get enough of it. How cool would it be to have games, conference races and post seasons developing this time of year rather than one spring game and practice tidbits from our first love programs?

What does the Hoop think about moving the non P5 programs' season to the spring from say..March to June with their "NC game" ending around July 4?

Hell no. I would not mind seeing a playoff between the lower FBS with the winner getting an automatic berth into the playoffs though. Probably need to expand the playoffs, but I think that would be great for CFB

Why in the world would you want to see another Northern Illinois vs Florida Sate game (referencing that BCS game a few years ago)in our playoffs again? Let the little guys play the little guys and keep em out if our big boy world. Let em have their own playoff/ccg/ ect. Their own separate deal. Enough with the "cupcake" games for P5 programs, earn it!

So you were sleeping when Utah, TCU and Boise State played the "big boys"? Not comparing non-AQ season schedules to the path an AQ has to take. However, the best non-AQs have proven they can play with some of the best AQs at seasons end.

PS..what happenened the last time West Virginia ended their season in a BCS Bowl against a non-AQ?

Because I am a fan. In a playoff if Northern Illinois gets pounded early, no big deal. They will win every once and awhile. Best moments in sports, not involving your personal team, are big upsets. I remember Utah v Bama and BSU v OU. I cant tell you who won the titles those years, but there is nothing like watching David beat Goliath. Hell, I remember App State vs Michigan. I could not tell you another thing that happened that season and that game happened in Sept.

What I'm reading is a return to the seperation between D1 and D2.

Blast GR all you want, but is there anyone not tired of reading how Nova is going to field a D1 football team?

D1 is expanding too much. It is a problem. Just a ton of tax payer money being wasted. Wondering why there is this push, because you are not seeing it flow through the bottom line. I would rather see a European soccer system. Where you can play your way up to FBS, but also where you are thrown out. They need to cap the number at 80 or something.

I hope you aren't really serious. But in answer to your question at some point in time IMO all those conferences you mentioned, WILL be included somehow in a conference playoff (with the big boys). so, shifting them to spring wouldn't make sense. Now why do I think even these mid level conferences will be included somehow? M-O-N-E-Y.

I agree with you but I think the new under dogs will be the lower tier teams in the P5 now (see WVU, Arizona, Iowa ect..)Same situation as far as David vs Goliath ( thinking Bama, Texas,tOSU,USCw ect.) but bigger fan bases involved. Equaling more eyes/interest and in the end equaling more money for the networks that put on the games, which is what all the separation is about to begin with.

You know, there could one day be such a thing as too much football(OMGZ! I NO RiGhT!). I think they have the perfect balance right now. I enjoy football that much more because we have the offseason. It's like teasing your ol' lady and then finally putting it on her.

Dead serious, I believe (JMO) that the non P5 schools are going to have to do something drastic like this to stay alive. I believe their days if relying on the payday games will be coming to an end soon. Those big tv contracts were not out in place (again JMO) for people to take in a Bama vs Western Ky (no offense to either). I believe the "major" programs are thinking along the lines of the NFL model and relying on themselves to make all the money they can, right or wrong.

Agree, we would still have that... From Jan to March. Judging by the logo (great btw) I would think a fan like you could get behind this pretty easily. As far as the Boise fan on the broncos, Would it feel better as a BSU fan remenicing about multiple MNC's that those teams would have prob won rather than beating P5 teams that weren't the champions of the conference? No hate or snobbery towards BSU here, very similar to my own WVU.

BTW we would have CRUSHED you had the BE stayed together :yahoo: :suds:

And don't forget TCU over then #4 Big Ten champ Wisconsin in the Rose. That game was a heavyweight fight, thoroughly enjoyed watching that one.

Well Boise has certainly fallen off this past year or two and while West Virginia has moved up in conferences and faced tougher competition, they have sucked these past couple of years. The defense is a fucking mess and the offense is inconsistent at best. So I guess my response to that is that would be pure speculation and you have no idea what you're talking about. No one knows what would have happened had Boise moved to the Big East and West Virginia stayed. No one has a clue because it never transpired.

Didnt carry the same magnitude. Wisconsin was a good team, but they are not a blue blood. Its just feels bigger when David beats a blue blood, not just a solid FBS program. Its the perception of it, not the reality.

?My Avi supports UL-Lafayette. Not Louisville :D

I actually hope that ULL plays above their pay grade and achieves getting into a major conference. Sorta like VT or Utah. It's not likely but there is a chance.

If you are serious then my answer is this wouldn't work. Many of these schools use their facilities for multiple uses and sports so moving a major sport into spring when Soccer and Track are competing would almost be impossible.

The logistics of making this happen would be extremely difficult not to mention taking away the opportunity for any major payday would hurt their budgets substantially as well.
