With the performance that Jalen Hurts had in Super Bowl 1 in this scenario where Mahomes got bailed out by the refs, field, and Gannon all the while Hurts played an amazing game blemished by the most fluke of turnovers where he just dropped it and it was returned for a TD right when the Eagles were on their way to busting the game open into a blowout.

If Hurts and the Eagles win Super Bowl 2 then Super Bowl 3 would have to end up being the most hyped Super Bowl of all time. If the Eagles win the next two Super Bowls in head to head matchups with the Chiefs goin 2-1 then I think Jalen will have legitimate claim to best QB of this era. Especially if he gets at least one MVP and 2 Super Bowl MVPs in the process. Especially given his Super Bowl performance that we already have in the books.

Hurts is far, far, far away from being in a serious discussion with Mahomes for best QB of their era. Obviously in terms of accolades (MVP's, SB's. SBMVP's, etc) but also statistically.

Mahomes has a career Adjusted EPA/Play of .306. Easily the highest since at least 1999.

Hurts has a career Adjusted EPA/Play of .153 which is roughly on par with Russell Wilson. So, really good. But, respectfully not on Mahomes' level in a career comparison at this point.

Some other notable names from this "era"

Tony Romo: .193
DeShaun Watson: .183
Joe Burrow: .182
Lamar Jackson: .176
Josh Allen: .168
Dak Prescott: .163 (yes, even him)
Matt Ryan: .160
Justin Herbert: .159
Jalen Hurts: .153

Some notables in adjusted EPA/Play, in general, since 1999 (that's how far rbsdm.com goes):

Mahomes: .306
P.Manning: .263
A.Rodgers: .223
T.Brady: .214
D.Brees: .208
P.Rivers: .193
B.Roethlisberger: .168
K.Warner: .161

Additionally, this was the past SB:

Mahomes 32 Plays .52 EPA/Play 16.8 Total EPA
Hurts 57 plays .25 EPA/Play 14.1 Total EPA

Hurts and the Eagles offense simply controlled the ball more. Some of that is frankly the Eagles' on fault between a fumble 6 and a near punt return TD from Toney.

To further illustrate how silly OP is:

Mahomes' worst season as a starter still posted a better adjusted EPA/Play (.232) than Hurts' best to this point at .225. If you include postseason, Mahomes' worst season is .247 Adjusted EPA/Play while Hurts' best is at .226 EPA/Play

Or in plain English: This is a deeply, deeply unserious post and even Hurts winning SB's wouldn't really close that gap by itself at this point.

You know they said the same thing about Peyton vs Brady early on. Peyton had all the stats and personal accolades. Brady had the rings though so that makes this different that Mahomes has both early. But IF the Eagles and Chiefs play the next two Super Bowls against each other and the Eagles come out of that 2-1 in the 3 straight Super Bowls, Hurts with at least one regular season MVP and 2 Super Bowl MVPs then you bet your ass it will be a very real discussion.

Mahomes would be 2-3 in Super Bowls. Hurts would be 2-1 in Super Bowls and 2-1 in Super Bowls against Mahomes with the one loss being when Hurts played amazing.

The path is there. Just a matter if Hurts and the Eagles will take it.

Romo is not this era. Matt Ryan is not this era.

Hurts is currently inflated because of the QB sneak. Hard to predict based on that.

I suspect a lot of people thought the Eagles had a better roster going into the SB last year and Mahomes still won.

You have to admire his commitment to escalating his terrible posts. Some people hit the top of the mountain and stop, this legend won't rest until he resets the market on stupid posts.
