Nice, you guys might not have to schedule Delaware St the last week of the year to make a bowl game now

Rough year man. Coaches quit recruiting. Team quit in BC.

Hey At least you all stayed loyal to JT Barrett all year and didn't get smoked by Clemson again.

Changing coaches and closing in on a top 10 recruiting class is an accomplishment. Baby steps

He's right. It is ridiculous. The guy had one great run when he had Famous Jameis as QB and hasn't done jack shit outside of that.

Hell, Saban probably isn't even worth that kind of scratch.

They didn't just give a ridiculous contract to Fisher........they also overpaid all his assistants by a large margin.

They have over 100 million tied up in coaching salaries.......so when it falls apart in 3 or 4 years, they will have no real way out of this.

I don't know what moron they have making these deals, but I hope aggy keeps him FOREVER

aggie desperately trying to spend their way out of irrelevancy. Probably won't work, usually doesn't.

In the meantime, UT has locked up just about every top recruit from the state.

Yes, Saban is worth 7.5 mill a year.

for 10 years tho? that's an absurdly long commitment.

Nick is in his mid 60's now.

Last season was Saban's 11th in Bama, his 10th good season at Bama.

It would have been a bargain if they signed him to a 10 year, 75 million deal before the 2008 season.

Except he said: “It’s the same way with Alabama and their total salary,” he continued, via the newspaper. “Take it off the sheet because it doesn’t matter. Because it’s just no value to it. It’s a reactionary type of management.”

Alabama's reaction is pretty fair for a coach that wins a title every other effing year

As it turns out, yes he would have been a pretty good deal. Urban, Dabo...maybe a few others you could probably safely put on that list. It's not a long list tho.

If I was at a legitimate program, yes he is worth it. If you are a middling program or below no. Texas, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, etc absolutely worth it. Michigan State, aTm, UCLA, Pitt, etc probably not. I don’t know if there would be a real chance to get the depth needed to pay a coach as a top tier coach and only be able compete for a conference title once every four five years.

You don't understand aggies. For the most part they are great people...with one exception...the cult.

They have a lot of tradtions (a few are good) and a lot of money...ergo... they ARE "legitimate". Just cause.

Which is exactly my point. It is a waste of money when they can get a coach for half the price and get similar results.

Their biggest problem is they refuse to accept who and what they are.

They think hiring the most expensive coaches and recruiters will magically make College Station a place kids want to play. They outright refuse to accept that they will ALWAYS be little brother, and that as long as Texas just treads water the majority of instate talent is going to want to play there. That's just reality and the way it is.

Aggy thinks they can buy talent and titles, and then crow about being a blue blood program that they will never be.

Spend some time reading their message boards like Texags and gigem247 if you want to understand their level of delusion.

Examples will be basically ANY kid that does not choose to go to aggy, like Jaylen Waddle. The kid signed with Bama.......and the FIRST response to this, as with EVERY recruit they don't get, is -
"Not SEC ready"
"We didn't want him anyway, _____(scrub scrap player they get instead) is better and under the radar!!!"
"Bagmen"

It's like clockwork. They'll then work themselves into a lather that their recruiting class is really the best class in the country because it's guys that their genius HC really wanted, and everyone else's is overrated.

Hell they even make up their on instate player rankings, and guess who is always at the top? The kids that sign with aggy!

I don't know of any other fanbase on the planet that does this stuff, at least not seriously. Aggy is ABSOLUTELY serious with all of this crap

In sort of a different way, Penn St comes really close to the cult of Aggy. Why don't you see their fans on here when they have a huge fanbase? Because they only hangout in their little bubbles of groupthink like BWI where Joe is Jesus and anyone who pisses off the thought police gets removed. It's not healthy.

While I don’t disagree on PSU, thinking Ohio State would some how be different in this regard is the epitome of foolishness. You clowns still worship Hayes and today’s fans don’t know half the shit that guy did.

Exhibit A gentlemen:

Would you trade classes? | TexAgs

Notice the number of times they say "SEC ready" or how much they trust in Jimbo to take lower rated recruits over higher ranked ones as a sign of his evaluation acumen - as opposed to him getting the leftovers.

They do this every single year. No matter who the coach is. No matter who the recruits are. It takes a special breed to be that stupid, repeatedly, for decades.
