At there when we were in Lawton for my son's BCT graduation. Was not really impressed. Had better brisket from a gas station in Longview, TX on the trip in.
It's a chain so I don't doubt it. Wasn't putting it on the map, it's just a football tie-in.

There is no "best bbq state". I've had great bbq from here to Florida and back.

Here's my rule of thumb: If the place doesn't sell out from time to time, don't go there.

Never heard of Oklahoma or Alabama BBQ so I’m going to go with Carolina.

When you hear about areas, it's usually more about their different styles.

I know, my brother smokes food all the time. So we have discussed the different styles.

BBQ is like pizza and sex. Even when it's bad it's still good.

And I agree state makes no real difference. I've had good and bad in several states. Also once I swear I had opossum that was supposed to be pork.
Jake's Rib was good. Not as good as I was told. Cool that they bring you a whole basket of fries.

Well there is Alabama white sauce, but I don't like that shit. Wife loves it/makes it for her chicken.

We hired a guy from Bama who introduced me to it at a July 4th party at his house. I thought it was pretty good. When I asked him why he never cooked it at work he said "Would you be the first guy to introduce a white BBQ sauce to a firehouse supper?" :pound: Fire house suppers aren't known to be politically correct and people have earned career long reputations for screwing something up.

I have thought about making that a few times.
When I smoke I use hickory. Leave it open for a few hours then wrap in foil. Brisket, pork, chicken, links anything always us hickory.

Original White Sauce 1 - 16 oz. Bottle

I use an apple/hickory mix or pure apple for pork. Hickory for beef, but I've never done a brisket. It's just too much food for only 3 of us.

And yeah I wrap, I don't care if people call it a crutch or whatever. You can have your pride, I'll take my delicious dinner.

A little apple juice when you wrap up helps tenderize.

You either love it, or it's the nastiest shit you've ever put in your mouth. When I grill chicken, I use something like sweet baby rays(kroger generic is actually my favorite, somewhat like sweet baby rays), and wife is all about that white sauce.

Gotta go with South Carolina and their pork and vinegar based sauces. Can’t stand that thick sugary sauce.

I don’t care, I’m not going to be eating any man’s “white sauce”.

Yep, I also inject apple juice on bigger cuts of pork butt(8lbs+).

I also spray with apple cider vinegar/water.

Robert Massie wrote the best book on him. He had no idea how bad the peasants suffered during WW1 and before. The information was kept from him by his advisors.

That is what I'm reading.

Massie's books are class. Crazy to think I have a degree in Russian literature and we were required to read some of his works.
