Well then that would either make Kirk a dick, or Bruce Allen's offer so pathetic that no counter offer was required.

I kinda know where most stand on this. But I also have to agree with those that have said, if Kirk never countered... what the hell where they talking about the last two months?? The weather in Canada??
they where talking about trump and the rise of real deal sudfield and recipes

You act like they have been meeting daily for the last couple of months. There were reports about 1 1/2 months ago that the tone had "changed", but no definitive reports (that I recall) that they had been meeting on a regular basis. Sounds like Bruce threw out the offer in May, and has more or less been crickets since then. All of you claim that there was no involvement by the FO the last 2 months, but could it be possible that the KC camp wasn't really interested in talking unless the offer was in the $75 million range to START with? It sure sounds like it.

I agree with what some of the talking heads have said...his agent is driving the boat on this one.

That's correct, unfortunately for Kirk's camp they DON"T set the market. Notice too, that almost all counter offers were well below that "starting point." I'm going to say this until everyone understands it, The "Tag" is a collectively bargained agreement between owners and players and is a tool that can be used to keep players when there is no contract that the sides can agree to. That is what it is for and does. Nothing more....nothing less.

What it DOESN'T do is dictate how much these privately owned businesses should pay for players. For whatever reason, Dan Snyder and his ass wiper have decided that a QB of the type that Kirk Cousins is.....is worth what they actually offered. Fuck it, there are a couple of ways to explain this at a level where the goats can get it.

1. Kirk Cousins is, for all intents and purposes a "Free Agent" who knows that he can get paid handsomely for his services. Washington is ONLY offering $$$M for those services which is their right as a privately held business. This is well below what some believe he's worth and more than what others believe he's worth. However, because of an agreed upon rule they (DC) can "sign" him to a one year deal for $$$M. For his part, Kirk has a right to sign or not sign that one year deal. The amount of that deal ONLY pertains to that year and NOT anything that the two sides can agree to in separate negotiations.

2. YOU are working for StymieCo at a current salary that averages $50 per hour ($104,000 per year). While working there you've littered the market with your resume' and noticed that there are companies that will pay you at an average of $100 per hour and others either offering you much less or are not interested at all. (This is a true reflection of the market)

You've indicated to StymieCo that at the end of the year you're moving on to maximize your earning potential. StymieCo can't, won't or are unwilling to match those offers realizes your value to them and asks you to stay for one more year that pays you $156,000 ($75 per hour) You agree for whatever reason(s) and during the year You and StymieCo attempt to work out a deal, unfortunately every offer that they make is well below that $100 per hour mark.

You seem to think we don't know Washington has the right to tag Kirk and to offer him whatever they want. We all know this. We just think it is stupid and can easily back that up.

Let me ask this.

If You are Bruce Allen and Kirk didn't respond with a counter after your joke of an offer, why didn't Bruce up his offer?

Because the silence would have been a pretty good indicator that it wasn't good enough.

It is on the 106.7 the Fan site. He doesn't talk about it a lot because the interview wasn't about that but in the last 10 minutes he talked about winning several times, one time Grant and Danny tried to steer him away from it. I get your point but the context of the interview had little to do with that and more about how things played out.

I don’t listen to 106.7 living in the deep south these days, but I did find the replay on-line…thanks for the info.

Couple of things I found very interesting. And, I will say this to be crystal clear. I like KC. I think KC with the coaching of JG has developed into a top 10 QB in the league. I believe KC to be an honest, god-fearing and a very intelligent young man. So, if you believe what he said in the interview, then I guess you must believe everything else right?

KC said…

He had “very positive” meetings about contract negotiations with Bruce.

“8 out of 10 players in this league are on 1 year deals”

So, IMO this whole shit storm of who’s to blame isn’t one or the other. It's just the way things are in the NFL in 2017, and beyond…but, posters on the hoop had a lot to do with it. shit storm that is.

HTTR my brothers and sisters, it’s great to be a REDSKIN fan.

The point most of us are trying to make is simple. It is costing us way more going year to year to keep our PB QB than to give the man a fair contract.

like not using words such as “winning” or “championships”?. Kind of strange don’t you think? Kirk is on record as saying “it’s not about money”, and “I think it was a fair offer” KC.

IMO, Kirk deserves to be paid as one of the top players at his position in the league. But as that QB, and face of the franchise of one of the most storied teams in the league, don’t you think he should mix in a few “winning” and “championship” words to his vocabulary when being interviewed?

Maybe, he should have said “I would love to be here winning championships with the Redskins long term”. Instead of “I would love to be with the Redskins long term” KC …then perhaps, everyone on all sides of the fence might feel a little better.

Who looks at the Redskins as a storied franchise?

Far as the mixing in of certain words during his speech. Why?

I don't see KC as the face of the franchise either. Unfortunately I think Snyder is, and no, that's not good.

No. Kirk admitted that he and his camp did not counter. Not sure they talked about much of anything since that offer was made.

make sure skinsdad reads your post.

if you believe that no one talked about the contract for 2 months while "ongoing talks " were happening or that their meeting here in MI was about global warming and its effects on field mice the neither one of you belong in this conversation period

i dont care if KC was being gracious or not but both of you are as dumb as a box of rocks if (key being IF ) you believe they didnt discuss the contract during ongoing talks since may 2

that dog doesnt hunt period

You dont get to be the face of the franchise in DC until you play chess with Dan on a weekly basis.

its the front offices fault from the beginning . they had a deal in place for 12 (now) going into 2015 but it was killed by allen . the had one for 19 mil going into 2016 but it was killed by allen . he could have been had for 1/2 of what we are paying him today but chose not to . sorry but the FO made the choice and they should be held accountable for their choice .

then they trot out this BS lowball 1 yr extension for the trans tag next year and think he would sign the hot garbage

and people who cant read a damn contract want to say " well its both parties fault " when the guy agreed to sign twice at much lower prices and the FO balked

sorry i am not buying and the FO will get every ounce of my textual disgust

I said name a player. You tried to pass Cooley off as a player. He isn't. Cooley is a joke and always was.

no player has come forth yet. I passed Cooley off as a former player. Read Cooleys article. Cooley is not a joke. I don't agree with everything he says but he has some good points.

You seem to think we don't know Washington has the right to tag Kirk and to offer him whatever they want. We all know this. We just think it is stupid and can easily back that up.

Some here do and some here don't, to me that's clear to others, it's about not being able to see beyond such juvenile things as "hating" or "not liking" Kirk, the long departed #10, some arbitrary "market" based on that tag or a universal NFL.

I'm not sure who the "we" that you speak of are, but sometimes all of us must be reminded of the strictly business side of the NFL. Sure from a fan's perspective it's stupid, no one disputes that, but stupid or not if we are to remain fans, we'll just have to learn to live with the business decisions made by those in charge of making them. #FUCKBRUCEALLEN

Hold on. You think that it isn't an opinion? Or you don't think the opinion is biased?

Those three guys just gave there opinions. You want to call everyone idiots who thought KC should have countered. I gave you three examples. Plus there are at least three people on this board who think KC should have countered. We agree to disagree. Fine

Just a guess, but I think Bruce would rather keep him here and tank his career, than trade him to some place where he might thrive and make Bruce look more stupid than he did when he said we were winning off the field.

I seriously think we are screwed unless Kirk comes out on fire. Because if the team struggles early, Bruce will make Gruden bench Kirk no matter why we are struggling.

In today’s NFL, the point you are trying to make is not that simple. KC had some good points didn’t he?

BTW gk, Kirk was a REPLACEMENT Pro Bowl QB, and that’s a fact. The Redskins have signed KC to contracts that will change his families lives for generations. It’s all about winning championships at this point isn’t it?

Not saying there weren't conversations here and there, but it's common knowledge that the agent was slow playing the shit out of this until Carr and possibly others signed. Basically until this past week. They were in absolutely no hurry.

Furthermore, it doesn't sound like they were asking for an all night/weekend meeting in the war room to hammer out a deal. You "Lovers" can spin it how you want, but there is some blame on KCs side. He likely DOES NOT want to be here, just to chickenshit and possibly greedy to admit it. You people are too ignorant to see that.
