While most are looking towards a hopeful future, the end is also nigh for the hapless 2023 Washington Commanders, who failed to win their division or make the playoffs. Their season marred by countless missteps,, turnovers, and poor coaching, leaving their fans with nothing but despair and loathing.

The Washington Commanders have had a disappointing season, with only four wins and 11 losses so far. They have been eliminated from the playoff race and have no chance of winning the NFC East division. However, there is still some hope for the future, as they could secure a high draft pick in 2024 if they lose their remaining games against the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys.

The 49ers and the Cowboys are both fighting for the top spot in the NFC. The Commanders will face the 49ers at home on Sunday, December 31, and the Cowboys at home to end the season on Sunday, January 7. Both games will be tough challenges for the Commanders, who have lost six straight games and have benched their second-year QB Sam Howell for the veteran Jacoby Brissett. The 49ers won't be in any kind of generous mood this Sunday either as they look to bounce back from a loss to the Ravens 33-19 at home on Monday. It was a disappointing performance by the 49ers, who committed five turnovers and couldn’t stop Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ offense. The 49ers’ quarterback Brock Purdy had a career-worst game, throwing four interceptions and no touchdowns. Their foul mood is best summed up by the following...

While some fans may want the Commanders to play spoiler and upset their conference and division rivals, others may prefer them to lose and improve their draft position. The Commanders currently have the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft and there's still some hope that moving into the second spot, albeit a long shot could still be in play. The Commanders could use a high draft pick to address their many needs, such as offensive line, wide receiver, linebacker, and cornerback. They could also look for a franchise quarterback, as Howell has not shown enough promise in his stint as the starter this season. That debate has been filling the airways in recent weeks among Washington fans/followers and supporters.

The Commanders have a lot of work to do in the offseason, as they will likely have a new coaching staff and front office after this dismal campaign. In the meantime, there are still games to be played.

See if Niners D is healthy or any key players are out but I’d imagine that Washington should be held to under 20 depending. 34-17
