About time. Hopefully we didn't completely destroy his bat.

Chances are.. they probably did already, like many other before Zunino. The farm system right now is a shit show. In 7 years, Jack Z produced 1 AS... Kyle Seager.

This was better news than Jack Z hitting the highway.

Too late? Not a chance. Now do they have the coaching to help him? That's a different question. One the incoming GM will have to ask.

But Zunino isn't going to learn to hit off speed/breaking pitches while at the major league level. He hasn't, he can't, and he won't.

in any competent organization, Zunino would have just now hit the number of pro AB's to be called up to the bigs for the very first time in a few days here with roster expansion.

instead, he's getting sent down.

really demonstrates the upside down, backasswards way this organization works.

They just brought up a good point on the radio, is this a sign that Lloyd wanted him sent down but Jack refused?

And ya this is a messed up organization that allowed him to come to show too soon. Just hope it hasn't ruined him the way Ackley's struggles ruined him

Not as big of a deal as it seems. Tacoma ends its season the 7th.

September call-ups are in three days. Rainiers play till Sept. 7th. So Zunino will be back

I'm unsure I have found a major league player who had a fewer amount of ABs that Zunino had in the minors. Seriously huge fuck up.

Olerud and Winfield had Zero! Just saying.

I don't think Will Clark did either. But I don't think Zunino's swing will ever be compared to any of those three.

313 non rehab PA's vs. 419 for Z. Good comparison just different results...unfortunately for us.

Zduriencik’s final move as GM was to option Mike Zunino to Triple-A, tweets Drayer. Zduriencik said the demotion was in Zunino’s best interest. “Just a breather, a break,” Zduriencik explained. “We would have liked to have done it sooner.” Zunino, of course, will likely be back before too long. Rosters expand on Sept. 1, and the Mariners’ Triple-A affiliate will see its regular season close on Sept. 7. In the meantime, John Hicks will be promoted and make his Major League debut.

419. That's pathetic. 313 for a guy who was born to swing a baseball bat vs. 419 for a guy who needed work based on his draft report. The whole thing is Z. Smoak needed to go down but Z didn't want to look bad so we ruined him. Same thing with Ackley. Hopefully we didn't ruin Zunino because he has just about everything else you want in a catcher.

LOL. More like "I got an earful about all my pathetic early first round selections and why they didn't develop so I made one last ditch effort to save my job by sending a guy down who should have been sent down 3 months ago. They fired me anyway."

can't disagree. The only thing I will give Z is that Zunino was the Golden Spikes winner which means he was a hitter at one time. How we screwed him up from there, who knows.

Ok, the university might have been but there is a good case since he was the best pitcher and hitter in college at the same time.

But ya Zunino being sent down is so weird, it was needed but not sure what point is being proved with the Rainiers season basically over
