July 26 the Red Sox acquired RHP Mauricio Llovera from the Giants in exchange for RHP Marques Johnson. Llovera had a 1.69 ERA across 5.1 MLB innings at that point and a 3.97 ERA across 22.2 AAA innings.

Following the trade, Johnson (2022 draftee) posted 18.1 scoreless innings with 20 strikeouts against 9 walks with the San Jose Giants. He will head to the AFL this season.
So far, the trade seems to be a win for both sides.

Erik Miller just finished a really strong season with AAA, posting a 2.77 ERA, 12.63 K/, and a 0.35 HR/9 rate in 52 innings this season. The Giants should have an open 40-man spot (for now) and Miller is R5-eligible this winter. Makes sense to add him now...

And I think we all know who you'd replace him with (and, now, cal and Stokes).

As expected, Giants outfielder Bryce Johnson elected free agency. He was eligible to reach free agency given that he has accrued six years of service time in the minors.

Wasn’t he a good fielder with speed but no power ?

We haven’t done one of these in a while. Off the top of my head, including all players in the system who still have their rookie qualification…

1) Harrison
2) Luciano

3) Whisenhunt
4) Arias

5) Black
6) Eldridge
7) Brown
8) Roupp
9) Fitzgerald
10) Winn

Very rough list. But at the end of the day, I am not certain what we have past Harrison and Luciano. I think there is a deep pool of nice pieces, but nothing that really looks like a future star. Of course TINSTAAP is a real thing in both directions. High profile flops and solid arms come out of nowhere (I never expected Webb to be what he became).

And to be fair, the system graduated a LOT of inventory this year. Bailey, Schmidt and Matos headline that group, and all 3 of those are solid, vital pieces moving forward.

Approx the equivalent of a 3rd or 4th round pick?

Nice pickup, but this type of signing needs to be a side dish, not the main course…
Are you saying that this signing does not Level up the Giants international prospects?
