Just starting a fresh thread for the ‘23 season…

2022 thread

Fangraphs released their top 100 (112, actually).

#26 Kyle Harrison
#97 Marco Luciano (#97!!!!)

They seem to be very concerned with his back issues. Backs can be a bitch. Joe Panik is my go to example of how a back can completely derail a career…

I hope Luciano doesn't get derailed like that.

Also, sad to see Ramos is completely off the radar on top prospect lists. This is definitely a make or break year for him.

He is practically off the radar for Giants-specific lists at this point. But I agree. He will not be with Sacto next year. He will graduate or drop out this year.

I haven't looked at any Giant Top 20 (or Top 25) lists this offseason. He's not even cracking Top 20 org lists now?!?!

At least he is still in the conversation but that is still a fall far from his previous heights. Still strange to me that he could hit in Richmond but not Sacramento. His end of 2021 stint with Sac seemed an anomaly with his hot spring training last year but then he continued to struggle with the RiverCats again for the majority of 2022.

There is definitely SOMETHING going on. Injury? Mental (sulking about not breaking with the big club)? Yips?

Who knows. But I agree that his trajectory is odd and can’t be explained with the data we have access to.

The Giants have signed 1B Connor Cannon to a MiLB contract. Cannon was traded by the Giants to the Yankees along with Wandy Peralta to acquire Mike Tauchman at the start of 2021.

I didn't even know that the Yankees had released him. However, I'm not surprised. He lost the entire 2021 season to injury and hit horribly with their low A club in 2022. Not really sure where he fits in the org but I assume it will be with San Jose. Hope he turns it around. He looked good in his debut year in 2019.

I mentioned Keaton Winn in the gdt, but it really belongs here…

he is going into his age 25 season, so he is a bit old for a TOP prospect. Especially one who just got his first taste of AA last year. His numbers to this point are OK, but not TOP prospect level (minor league numbers are not super reliable). But he was added to the 40 this off season, and now he getting whispers that he may be something.

Avila was returned to the Giants.

I am guessing he will be assigned to Richmond, and could be in the mix for a cuppo sometime this season.

I like this. Sanchez is a former high prospect who had some early success in the bigs. He wasn’t really on my off season radar because I didn’t think he would consider us because a minor league flier deal is really all I wanted to offer him and I didn’t really see him accepting something like that. Getting him on that exact contract is great, imho.

Unfortunately, it is further evidence that the org is adjacent to throwing in the towel on Bart.
