lol well he makes good points IMO. Gasol left for nothing. Greed from LA side botched the sign and trade. Nothing for howard. Who's next? If jim buss has his handprint on everything like it seems wouldn't surprise me if mitch sees a greener pasture elsewhere. I'm optimistic to an extent. I'm gonna be pretty irate if next free agency is a repeat of this one.

Good points? This guy has been bitching since day one. It's starting to become pretty monotonous.

1. Jeremy Lin was pretty much a free deal. On top of that we also got an additional two draft picks in a draft where we didn't have ANY picks... again, pretty much for free.

2. Pau Gasol was a free agent. We offered him a DAMN good deal and he refused. Nothing we could do about that.

3. Two of the better players on last years team got signed to great deals for both parties. Jordan Hill ill make $9m next year. He also only played 20 minutes per, last year - his stats PER 48 were far better than Pau.

4. D'Antoni is gone. Instant team upgrade. This alone gives us an additional 10-15 wins, no matter who takes over.

5. Kobe is healthy. Even at 60% of the old Kobe he's still good for 20ppg.

And if you think our new rookies won't have any impact, you're just plain delusional.

You both make good points and it seems the sum total of all of it is trying to redeem the massive mistakes short buss pulled two years ago (thus Kobe's comments about the FO). We are in a hole and as I stated previously, chasing after FAs as the FOUNDATION of a long-term is not working per se.

So because we have sold ourselves down the river by yielding massive amounts of draft picks into 2019 (which is 5 seasons), we are now in a balancing act of trying to get FAs to come at the same time trying to get new talent through the draft. The result will be... ...wait till next year until we stop giving away so much of our assets when we do transactions for FAs. The Lin deal is the right way to go about getting that balance we need and have not had in a while.

WE also have to rid ourselves of aging players with massive contracts such as Kobe and Steve Nash. They can assist the Lakers while they complete their contracts by developing the young guys. Gasol is gone. The next to go are Nash and Kobe and we should learn from that sort of nonsense that is result of short Buss's stupidity and not repeat it which I think is where Jeannie will come in.

It is going to take a lot more time than many of us bargained for and that is evident right now. So I suppose we can have this battle for a while because Lakers fans are not use to losing seasons that go beyond say two years but I went through this back in the early 70's when there was a five years stretch where we sucked. We are in that mode again.

If you and Trojans want to sit back and talk about the garbage we have and how cute they look in their uniforms that's fine

Fuck you dude. I haven't done anything of the sort. I guess I just have more realistic expectations of what can happen. They are trying to get better, but because it doesn't suit your idea of what they should do, you are just going to shit all over them.

Rebuilding the team doesn't happen overnight. They are doing things to move along with the rebuild like getting a first round pick for some cash and never going to play in the NBA Euro player, spending money on second round pick to grab someone that was much higher on their boards, drafting a potential cornerstone of the franchise in Randle, and maintaining future cap flexibility.

Julie is a pretty good raw young talent. He will go as far as he wants too. Very athletic and good footwork i notice so far. If he develops any kind of touch can be very good.

These are pretty good for summer league. If this can translate at all in the season it would be nice. But almost assuredly not lol. The Lakers really liked this kid.

Stats are generally meaningless in the summer league. But the way this kid moves is promising. Not afraid to run to the hoop.

If anyone can penetrate (fucking stern!!! cp3) on this team not named Kobe, our team would be vastly improved just based on that. If he can pass to add to that even better. He does move really well i agree.

If you look at the highlights of last nights game, Clarkson was quite often in the right place at the right time. When he made that game winning tip, it was because he was camped out in the lane and did the job a big usually does. A lot of PG/SG's would wait on the outside. Clarkson went straight for the ball.

I like Clarkson so for and that was way before his tip in... He looks fast and works hard defensively... I also saw Roddy B and was pleasantly surprised... Unfortunately we have a like 5 PGs none of which I'm excited about so I doubt there is a spot for him unless he plays the 2 which if I recall correctly was the problem for him in Dallas...

Guess you missed this post by me...:noidea:

I thought there were other options other than lin....taking on his 15 mil contract easily took up half the CAP.

Again at one point it was a sign and trade deal for PAU...would have atleast got something..but no..

some of the writers that cover the lakers are starting to say that if the situation as far a talent doesn't get better no max guys are going to want to come to LA...cant say that I disagree with that possibility

I look for more bad than good in summer league...example Andrew goudelock pretty much lit it up in summer league , D league...anything but the NBA season. but if you struggle in summer league then it begins to predict what might happen vs better competition.

Trojanfight, I believe we only absorb (cap hit) 8.7 mill of Lin's contract. The rest Houston handles.

Wow... Did you just tell me to become a clippers fan after 25 years because I'm not happy that our FO office seems to be reactionary instead of proactive...? Because I expect honesty, rather than bullshit... Maybe you should join the Timberwolves fans... They're fine with sending out a loser without trying to get better nor expecting things to change...:noidea:

You're bitching about stuff that can't be changed.

Yes, we know that Kobe's contract creates an obstacle. It doesn't prevent a them signing a max FA, but it does make adding better role players difficult. But the contract is signed and isn't coming off the books until 2016.

Yes, we know that the Lakers didn't land Lebron or 'Melo. We also knew going in that it was going to be a long shot. The Lakers actually came a lot closer to signing 'Melo than anyone (including the Lakers) thought they would. Either way, they didn't sign with the Lakers and that can't be changed.

Yes, we know the Lakers don't have much in the way of picks and that in hindsight, it was a bad deal. The picks are gone, at least the Lakers got a couple back.

Complaining about what has already been done and can't be changed is a waste of time. Better to look at the positives such as: the 2 picks, the addition of a potentially useful PG on a cap friendly deal and the re-signing of two of the better players from last season to cap friendly deals.

You can be negative and complain if you want. It's your right as a fan. Me, I'm gonna be positive and have fun watching the Lakers this season.

I'm starting to think Logicman has hacked your account.

I agree 100% and would add that Pau left because he only has a couple of seasons left and would like another ring. He also waited until 'Melo re-signed with the Knicks before rejecting the Lakers. If the Lakers got 'Melo, Pau would still be a Laker. That's not on the Lakers OR Pau.

That's correct. Only $8.4 million counts against the Lakers cap. Also, the 2 picks that came with him make it worth the $8.4 mil for 1 season, even if Lin doesn't work out, imo.

we will see how it works out. depending on rockets season. this past draft the rockets had the 25th pick. not a ton of value there. better than nothing I guess. think I read something on that 2nd round pick they got being heavily protected as to where lakers probably wouldn't ever get it.

I think its ok to be frustrated...rather its the past...hell im still pissed they took goudelock, and darius morris over isiah Thomas.

I think overall fans are frustrated with past few seasons and looking for something to be optimistic about. I think a solid signing like deng, ariza, maybe greg Monroe, lance Stephenson would have done that. then next season theres something appealing to free agents for 2015.

haven't really even looked at draft possibilities for next season...don't value the rockets pick all that much...barring any season ending injuries to key players for them..

Hadn't heard that about the 2nd round pick. Protecting a 2nd round pick would seem unusual. Additionally, the 1st round pick may not be where we would like, but it's a first round pick the Lakers didn't have. Also, at worst, it'll be right about where the Lakers are used to picking in the 1st round anyway.
