Cue the "I don't think any one of those players would play for that" response. ;)

You're also moving Durant to the post?

I originally had Garnett there, but then I realize that lineup would have no shooters and no spacing for MJ and Bron. So I put Durant in there as a stretch 4. Play small ball and make the other team match up. Plus Hakeem will take care of the paint. Best shot blocker I ever got a chance to watch. Bron could also be the 4 and Durant could be the 3.

I was gonna say, Bron would have to defend at the four.

My team would be John Stockton (2), Karl Malone (5), Michael Jordan (5), Hakeem Olajuwon (1), and Kevin Durant/Clyde Drexler (if I can double dip in one category) (2). I am not a big KD guy, but I had three dollars left and the choice was basically Shaquille O'Neal and Scottie Pippen or Hakeem Olajuwon and Kevin Durant.

KD is bigger than Drexler and SG shots are going to Jordan, so maybe Durant's the better choice than Drexler.

Forget all that, my team:

John Stockton (2)
Karl Malone (5)
Michael Jordan (5)
Scottie Pippen (1)
Shaq (2)

Put the duos together (JS/KM, MJ/SP).

Jordan - $5
Stockton - $ 2
Shaq - $ 2
Durrant - $ 2
Duncan - $ 3

Leaves a $1 for Pippen to come off the bench.

I would take my chances with that team against just about anyone (although FT shooting might be a problem).

In order, food stamps budget style...

Jordan - $5. The chasm between him and even Kobe is huge. And I need either him or LeBron.
Duncan - Lol. A bargain. He's the best PF and listed at $3
Olajuwon - $1. Again, a bargain. He's almost just as good as the $5 center, but you're saving $4. The dream is easily the best bargain on the board.

So, now I'm up to $9 with $6 left and 2 positions.

I believe the gap between the top 2 PGs and Zeke is pretty big. I also believe Durant is a bargain. Tempts me to do Oscar/Durant.

However, basketball is such a top heavy sport. I just cannot pass up LeBron. I take him and Walt Frazier and nobody is beating that team.

PG- Frazier
SG - MJ
SF - LeBron
PF - Duncan
C- Dream

Even as much as a better PG (Magic) would abuse Frazier, I still have the 2 best players of all time, the best PF and even arguably the best C.

lol...Russell for $4??? Man he is overpriced. Hakeem at $1 and Shaq at $2 are a great values. How does Hakeem only go for $1 and Russell $4????

Lets be honest Shaq would be the best center of that group in his prime given his 325 pound frame he would have destroyed those other centers are you serious bill russell is like 215 pounds

Agree. After reading this thread I was curious about the head to head matchups between Russell & Wilt & saw the following:

head-to-head numbers:
Wilt and Russell played against each other 142 times in 10 years. Russell's team won 88, Wilt's teams won 74. (14 game difference)

In those games Wilt averaged 28.7 ppg and 28.7 rpg, Russell averaged 14.5ppg and 23.7rpg

Wilt's high game vs. Russell was 62, and he had six other 50+ point games against Russell . Russell's high game against Wilt was 37, and he had only two other 30+ point games against Wilt.

Wilt's record 55 rebound game was against Russell, and he had six other 40+ rebound games vs. Bill.
Russell only had one 40+ rebound night against Wilt.

Wilt's teams lost all 4 seventh games against Russell's Celtics... (Russell's Celtics were 10-0 in game 7s during his career).

The total margin of defeat in those four 7th games was nine points

______________________________________________

I have no doubt that Shaq would have performed similar to Wilt in his prime (perhaps not the elavated #s in this era) and could have handled Russell. Russell was a great player, but his reputation is overstated somewhat due to his teammates. Kareem should likely be at the top of this list because he possibly had the most unstoppable shot in NBA history. The other ratings are questionable.

Magic-best
Jordan-best
Durant-A 5 dollar guy for 2 bucks
Garnett-in the top 30 all time for points for a buck?
Shaq-best would beat every other center listed one on one

Magic and Durant would beat Frazior and LeBron, get real and anyone who puts Scotty on their team gets eliminated.
