If Bill Belichick became positive for COVID-19 and had to retire from coaching, how do you feel about his son assuming the mantle in Foxboro?

They are conducting this poll on Felger and Mazz on 98.5 FM The Sports Hub this afternoon.

Over the first 90 minutes more than 1500 people have responded.

I say no. I think he should coach somewhere else and not be completely under his father's tutelage.

The person who succeeds Bill will be under immense scrutiny.

Imagine if that person had the same last name. And had never even been a coordinator. And bypassed a much longer-tenured assistant whose been both a coordinator and a HC.

Would Steve be up to that kind of pressure? Would McDaniels accept that snub or would Steve’s first task be finding a new OC in a year with no off-season program and a new QB replacing the GOAT? Pretty tall order.

For me I’d probably say no. But if RKK decided that’s what’s best for the team I’d support it.

This is a bogus question. Either he recovers or dies and most likely recovers. Yes there are some with long term adverse affects, but most of those are from high risk scenarios. BB isn't totally low risk because he's in his sixties (edging toward 70), but he's fit enough to run distance races so I doubt he has any long term issues.

2 things:

1) We don't know enough about Steve at this point
2) If Bill tests positive, it's not aids. He'd either die or have full recovery in a few weeks.

Testing positive doesn't mean they put you in a canoe.....

When I posted this thread it was 55%-45% in favor of NO 1500 respondents

At 6:00 PM EST there had been more than 5000 respondents and the score was 59.7% NO

As far as recovering from the virus...............people over 60 who have recovered have lost as much as 40 % lung capacity. If you're over sixty and you recover, life is not the same.

Life is fishbowl right now and the media is just casting a hook to see if anything bites.

Sorry, but he looks like a tweaker. Like he’s ready to give a blow job behind a dumpster for meth.

No no no

Let the kid earn it. At this point he hasn't done anything to give him a HC position.

It should be Josh's job. Not that I think Josh would be the best candidate but he's been a good Patriot. Walking the company line. He's done his time let Steve work his way up.

What brought up this topic to begin with? Skippy deserves the post, especially for the one, two he delivered to Indy. He almost can't go anywhere else.

It was being discussed in detail on 98.5 The Sports Hub which is also simulcast on NBCSports Boston. The producer is in the studio and Felger and Mazzeroti are in their homes for four hours a day Mon.-Fri.

You already stated that part. Any idea why THEY brought it up?

You asked what brought this up and I gave as detailed a description as possible. Why does anyone discuss anything? Because their bored? Because they have some info and want to get feedback? They're losing market share because people aren't driving around in their cars.

Then again, there are people who know inside stuff and are giving it out to see how the fan base is going to react...............maybe before it's actually done?

Patricia and Flores are not at all shy about plucking the Patriot fruit that's become available. Both of them are very comfortable grabbing a known defensive quantity. Since neither have much offensive experience, wouldn't picking off Super Bowl experienced offensive players be a fair gamble??
