Well, he might hit 30 home runs again.

edit: 40's possible with the Yankee pixie dust.

I seriously hope this report is wrong!

The Sinstripes are the LAST team I want to see Ellsbury go to!

Looks like it's final

Yankees Agree To Sign Jacoby Ellsbury

By Zach Links [December 3 at 7:31pm CST]
The Yankees have agreed to sign Jacoby Ellsbury, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News (via [ame="[MEDIA=twitter]408045027240067072[/MEDIA]"]Twitter[/ame]). Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com first reported that the two sides were closing in on a seven-year pact. It is believed the deal will top Carl Crawford's $142MM, seven-year deal with one estimate pegging the deal at about $150MM, according to Heyman.
The Yankees have been in simultaneous talks with Shin-Soo Choo, Carlos Beltran, and many other top free agents, including their own Robinson Cano. Things have stalled somewhat with Cano, however, as the Yanks don't want to go far beyond $170MM over seven years and Cano's team looking for about $260MM. Heyman spoke with sources who didn't rule out the Yankees continuing their purusit of Choo or Beltran, but it would seem unlikely at this point. One source told Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (on [ame="[MEDIA=twitter]408046184524046337[/MEDIA]"]Twitter[/ame]) that a deal with Ellsbury or another top outfielder won't preclude the Yanks from re-signing their star second baseman.
ESPN's Jayson Stark reported on Monday that talks were moving faster than expected for the Scott Boras client. Boras is notorious for waiting out the market to find the right deal as he did with Prince Fielder (signed in late January) and Michael Bourn (February).
Ellsbury offers more pop than the typical center fielder, with a career slugging percentage of .439 and isolated power of .141. While his power is more of the doubles and triples variety, which is aided by his speed, he did hit 32 home runs in his stellar 2011 campaign. In that year, Ellsbury led all of baseball with 9.1 wins above replacement, finished second in the AL MVP voting, won a Silver Slugger and a Gold Glove, and made the All-Star team.
The 30-year-old has also consistently posted above average UZR and DRS numbers in center field. While he has come back to earth somewhat since '11, he checked in with 5.8 wins above replacement in 2013, which is second only to Robinson Cano among free agents.
Yankees people envision Ellsbury in center with Brett Gardner moving to left.

Certainly hurts that he is going to the Yankees but it's all about the money these days.

Only hurts the Yankees because how can they afford Cano now.

Was expecting Ellsbury to be a goner. I'll be pissed if Napoli ends up elsewhere.

Yeah I was too... Just never wanted it to be the Yankees. At this rate it certainly looks like he will be gone too.

He might steal 100 bases in a season now that he gets to face the Sox.

I am actually sad for Ellsbury. He won't be winning any time soon.

The Yankees need to re-build, not re-load.

21 mill per for 7 years. LMFAO

9 homers and 70 RBIs equals 21 per year???

SO glad the Sox did not try and keep him.

You're really citing RBI for a leadoff hitter? And RBIs are a next-to-worthless stat anyway.

Ok

21 mill per for a guy who is more fragile then a egg out of a carton? Is that better?

I guaranty he will never play a full season in NY.

Yikes -- 7 years 153 million is a lot of money to pay for a guy who relies on his legs as much as anything. You would think after what happened with Crawford -- teams would shy away from these monster deals, but no chance.

I think NY will like the deal for the 1st couple years, but they will regret it later. NY may want to work on the pitching staff, because if CC pitches like he did last year and Kuroda leaves -- they are in some serious trouble, unless they are planning to just try and outscore everyone.

Kuroda is leaning towards returning.

And their plan is to go after Tanaka.

they want this as their rotation

1-Sabathia
2-Kuroda
3-Nova
4-Tanaka
5-Pineda

And they are expected to make another big signing, hopefully Cano takes the generous $25 mil per year they are offering. And I hope A-Rod is suspended for the season, they save $27.5 mil this year.

I thought Kuroda was going back to his country and after his shitty performance in September when we had a chance to sneak in as the 2nd WC, I wouldn't care if he did
