Replacing one of the top QBs is pretty much impossible. Once Carr went down, the Raiders hopes to go far were over. I'm not in the majority - a key loss, especially to a Pro Bowl QB, is an acceptable excuse.

Most teams are screwed the moment they lose their starting QB and some more than others. Like the Raiders: Carr was a big part of why that offense worked. But with as many drops as wide open WRs made in that game it was far more than just Carr's absence that was felt. That's big but the other players have to pick up the slack and they didn't. Can't name that completely on missing the QB.

Even with Carr the Raiders are high on my list for a fall back in the won/loss column next year - there are Coached by JDR you know.

It's actually not the worst FA picture for them, but it isn't great news either considering they're going to have to ante up for Carr here pretty soon. I think they have some pretty good cap space in 2017 though. Reggie Mac has been pretty good in that regard: getting the team out of salary cap hell and into a spot where the cap numbers are tied to players who are actually contributing.

In other news the Seahawks beat the Lions 26-6 last night. I don't think there are any surprises there. I was hoping the Lions would be able to pull the upset but not surprised they weren't able to. Next week the Seahawks will be @ Falcons. That'll be interesting to see how our HC candidate takes on that Seahawks D.

I bet after a few weeks we will start to hear about 3 or 4 player for the Raiders going to hold out if the don't get huge raises .

Yep raiders will have to extend Carr this offseason or run the risk of him sitting out
He's a 22MM a year QB playing for $1MM but raiders have $51MM so after they extend carr they will still have 30-35MM

That is why other will bulk there agents will be calling for it they are low balling the players .. I do get that most of their success is drafting early and also hitting on those draft picks ..

All the same that money will be causing back biting IMO

Well 12-4 is a tough act to follow for any team. Think about it: how often does a given team go 12-4 in consecutive seasons? This is why what the Patriots have accomplished in this era of football is so amazing. Several 12-4 seasons strong together with a couple 10-6 and 11-5 seasons but also with a 14-2 finish a few times and just to make things interesting, a 16-0 season as well. Then you have what Manning was able to accomplish with the Colts from 2003-2009 where the Colts won at least 12 games in each of those seasons. Combine that with the Broncos 4 year run from 2012-2015 and while shorter than the other examples, this 4 year run punches above its weight because it includes 2 trips to the SB. That's impressive in such a short time.

Outside these recent examples you really don't see teams hitting 12-4 and staying there for very long. Even back to back seasons without a deep playoff run ensuing are more rare than common. It's hard to get to that level and stay there. That's not to say the Raiders won't be able to reach that win total again in 2017 or that they're a lock to miss the playoffs. They could win fewer games and still reach the playoffs again, but I doubt they hit 12-4 again. Teams just don't have seasons that good back to back very often and I'm not convinced the Raiders are better than other recent teams who have gone 12-4 and failed to reach that win total the following year.

Go Fish! Have a family connection to the early 70's Dolphins SB teams. Another reason is Jay Ajayi. I had the pleasure of watching him in person many times when he was at BSU. Good dude.

Oh i think we all view Carr as a legitimate excuse of why the lost those last 2 games. I'm just saying that there are some warts to this team that Carr helped cover up and we saw the last 2 weeks where some major weaknesses are for this Raiders team.

All I know is that the AFC West is going to be a blood bath for the next few years. Top to bottom, this division is stacked.

I agree with this. The Chargers are definitely the worst team in the division but that can change in a hurry. Just a few years ago people felt the Broncos were the worst team in the division!

Throw in the whole back up QB thing is no excuse since the Texans had their back up in the game as well.

Pick a lane CD. LOL

Miami looks like the broncos of the early 2000
Bad defense and very little offense and a playoff wildcard blowout

Watching the Dolphins get their lunch money taken, one can't help but wonder how the Broncos would have fared against the Steelers had they made the #6 seed instead of Miami. Of course one can only speculate and it's fair to assume the Steelers would have won this hypothetical, but I'd like to believe the Broncos would have at least made a game of it!

Giants looking really good right now at a tough place to play
I think Eli has as many playoff wins at lambeau as does Rodgers
