New rumor.
Hmmmm, I have to believe this Hexy just doing due diligence. Don't know if Hexy will go through with it by giving up any premium prospects. I've stated previously, I dont think Drouin's attitude and entitlement will jive with Hexy and Hakstol.

I agree. I also find it odd that is has taken this long for the Flyers to finally be attached to a Drouin rumor. Strehle followed up this tweet by mentioning that Yzerman could be looking at out D prospects though I really doubt Hextall will budge on moving any of them. Glad to know we are apparently interested, though.

Hurm....Drouin for an NHL ready or at least close D prospect and I am sure something else.
I don't know....this is not a very attractive deal to me.

Well, if Yzerman expects Hextall to give up Provorov or Sanheim and a pick for Drouin, he's out of his mind. Otherwise, let's talk.

With Gagne waking up he may now be a legitimate trade option to get something done like this for less cost. Give them AMac too although he's not playing horribly.

Amazing how quiet it is on our front. Dallas wants a defenseman - maybe Streit could be a fit.

Jordan Staal.
I heard that rumor...and then I heard it a second time....and I though, that is the dumbest thing. Hexy wouldn't be doing that. Homer, maybe, Clarke...sure...but Hexy....
and then I did a little digging.

Staal is 27. He is 6'4 200+. He moves well for his size and plays all three zones. Basically he is a bigger, slightly more offensively talented Cooter. He is also signed for six more years at 6 million a year. So, no way right?

Well, what if the Flyers can dump Umberger as part of the deal? Staal is not old and his contract is locked in. So he won't be going up in price to keep. To take on the contract the Flyers will have to move out money. Yes, the term would be less but it would be a dead weight contract out for a top 6 forward.

So, I start to think...while I don't see how he would fit on the Flyers or in Hakstol's system, a deal LIKE this could be to the longer term benefit of the Flyers. Don't get me wrong. I don't think Staal is coming here and I don't think Hexy would make the deal. I just think that this kind of a move could turn into an opportunity.

Deadline rumors are so much fun....

I'm definitely surprised that we're about 7 hours from the deadline and Hextall has finalized nothing yet. There must be a flurry of activity on the way here.

For the Flyers to take J Staal, I would think they'd have to be sending AMac and another asset in return for it to make sense. We've considered AMac to be untradable, but would you send him and a 2nd for J Staal? I agree with wbon22 that at first J Staal sounded ridiculous, but...

Still incredibly unlikely, just more for fun speculation.

tsk tsk tsk.. you guys are taking an Eklund rumor seriously? i'm ashamed :p

J Staal doesn't make any sense to me. They have too many centers already, and Couturier is a younger version of the same player. Why give up assets for him?

According to all the real reporters, Hextall is a vault. Nobody gets anything from him. I'm sure Eklund doesnt fair any better.

I actually heard this somewhere ELSE first and then heard it from Eklund. Hence the WTF? I don't think it would happen. If it was Homer of Clarke then I would say it was more likely. I agree, Staal makes no sense with this team based on skill set and where he is strongest positionally. It would only make sense if (and again, I do not think this is the case) Cooter or G were on short terms and wanted to move on, OR the team was looking to part ways with one of them.

The other way to look at this is if the unsaid part of the rumor is that a certain player wants to move and no longer play center? Again...don't think this is happening...but since nothing else is....

Also why would they want to move Jordan anyway? Not like he's old yet...

Having a guy like Jordan Staal is pivotal in winning a Cup but we just aren't there yet. Not a fit, but I really like the player.

I am starting to think we stand pat but maybe I am just impatient.

When is someone going to pony up for Gagner, Medvedev or White?

It seems to me like these guys all must go.

Apparently Hamhuis might not waive for Boston. Perfect opportunity to have someone desperately overpay for Gudas
