Fair enough, but it's that clutch time of year and these teams are mostly struggling. It starts tonight with a team that we've already beaten twice and is completely falling to pieces. Either way, I don't think we will take anyone lightly from here on out. Just go out and perform every night.

Also, the power play is pretty hot and we're lighting it up at times offensively. A streaking Ghost may just help lead us to a playoff birth.
In Ghost we trust!

It sounds silly to say it, but in order for him to have a 13 game point streak, we're obviously not getting shut out offensively and he is factoring in on a lot of goals. It seems like the more time and responsibility we give him, the better he gets.

And is there a more clutch player right now? I think all 11 of his goals have either won the game for us, tied it or given us the lead. Not to mention 11 goals is pretty absurd for a rookie defenseman that has only played in 38 games.

I just don't think you get much for Laughton or Cousins right now. I think their current ability + salary + role + potential exceeds the value you would get for trading them. They are the kinds of guys you use to fill out your bottom 6 when you're rebuilding. Cheap, good potential.

I agree with that sentiment, the whole point is that they are what they are right now and they shouldn't be untouchable, so if another team does think highly of them and is willing to give up the necessary pieces, you have to do what is best for the team

That was sort of my basis for who should/shouldn't be dealt

There is a lot of "well, what will you really get for..." here and on other boards.
Bottom line: Ghost was a 3rd round pick.

If you scout well you can turn 2nd and 3rd round picks into roster players who contribute night in and night out. Not every return needs to be a 1st.

I don"t think we would miss Medvedev, Gagner or White. Raffl is a close call. We would miss Schultz and Streit.
Yeah sorry that's what I meant do you want to move some of these guys if you have a decent shot at the playoffs? Depth can be key. Tough when you are in the hunt with no guarantee.

Let's be realistic, even if they do get in, I'm not sure they're going to go very far - teams get caught up in thinking that they can make a deep run when in reality the odds aren't very high - teams play real well in the week leading up to the deadline and they think they should buy and go for it and it gets them in trouble

In the Flyers case, they have players that need to be moved because those players will not be long term solutions to this team - they are what they are, an average team at best so it's not as if they would miss a lot of these players, they haven't made that huge of a difference

I hear you but remember when they squeezed in and got hot the only thing that killed them was lack of depth especially on D. You just never know....

That year, it was only the 3rd pairing that was the issue - Chicago was pretty much in the same situation last season when they won the cup, their 3rd pairing was similar to the Flyers of 2010

Flyers had a way better roster that year too, their forward depth was ten times better then than it is now and they had a great top four on defense compared to now when they're lucky to have two good d-men - only thing better now than then is goaltending

Flyers massively underachieved in the regular season that year, this time around, they're about maxed out with their capabilities

Flyers need to get on the move and start piling up draft picks

It is nice to have first rounders but you can really make hay with seconds as well

Kings won from the 8th seed just a couple of years ago.

I'm definitely not one of those people who says "Why even bother getting the 7th or 8th seed, we'll just get dropped in round one?"

Our players can absolutely use the experience and I honestly think we could take a team like Florida in a best of seven series. Also, Washington isn't exactly known for getting to the Cup finals. They do what they're doing now and then lose in the first or second round.

I don't care when we're picking either just as long as we're picking often in the first few rounds because our scouts have been doing a pretty solid job of late as it seems.

We'll take Dano (or their 1st in 2016) and a 3rd (2016) from the Hawks for Medvedev and Raffl.

What you guys are completely ignoring is that the Flyers are at nowhere near the level of the other teams you have mentioned that were lower seeds that got in and were hot

This team has some legitimate flaws and now all of a sudden, after one week where they beat a middling Devils team, lost to a Montreal team that has gone downward for months and needed OT(and gave up four goals) to beat the worst team in the league, people think this team can make the playoffs?

If they get in as a wild card, they'll get spanked by either Washington or the Panthers - Washington is way too deep with great goaltending and the Panthers have great chemistry with a perfect mix of veterans and young players and a goalie who has been terrific this season

I don't think I'm about to buy what some of you are selling - nice that y'all are optimistic but I hope some reality gets sprinkled in at some point

Chicago won't do that

They can find better fits elsewhere - they probably want a legitimate top six forward instead of two players that are depth at best - they want a game changer or at the very least, a legitimate veteran(Andrew Ladd for example, or what they did last year)
